    Hi Mike,
sure is - but there's a better way to do it than using AVI (because it's big).

Go along and download a trial version of camtasia studio.

use it to do you cam capture and then when you've finished produce it as a flash video.

This has the advantage of making it as small as you're going to get whilst still maintaining quality.

Camtasia will embed the flash video in a web page for you so all you have to do is cut and paste it into your own designed page (you can even just deploy what camtasia gives you.

I'll be launching a product tonight that I've used camtasia to do the videos with - the size difference was amazing -AVI video = about 400 mb a vid, flash = about 20 mb a vid.

anyway, go download a trial version (it's good for 30 or 60 days).

    Paul.

I use camtasia myself, and it's great, simple and to the point. If you end up trying it out and run into some problems, Let us know!

      Good Luck,

Camtasia is great. I use it all the time. But just another solution in case you do not want to eventually buy Camtasia.

If you are already familiar with your webcam capture software, you could also take the ouput AVI file and just convert to FLV. There are several free solutions on the internet that work pretty well.

Camtasia is really good crystal clear but when you save the file it gives 2 options (for me atleast) one is for camtasia and the other is avi. Both the file size's are huge. What I do is I record the video and then convert it to some other format, there are so many software's out there (free) which do convert avi to mp3, mpeg, flv.

    Hello Video Buffs

I use a number of tools when working with Video.

Camtasia is excellent when you want to record your screen or shoot and record Web Camera video. With this easy to use program and some imagination, you can do so many different things.

To help people get the most out of Camtasia, I recently put up a site that gives Ideas on the best way to use it to make money and also a number of tools that you can use in conjunction with it to speed up the process.

You can visit it here: CamtasiaPaycheckProfits.com or see the link in my signature below.

I also use a video converter to change the files created in Camtasia into a smaller file size. Just Google "Free Video Converters" and you can find a number of them on the Internet.

If I need to shoot video outside, then I work with Adobe Premiere to cut it and make what ever changes are needed. A good videographer always has a number of different tools in the tool pouch to use.

    Hope that helps you out.

    Have a Great Day!

You have to look at frame rates and kbps settings
when you compress a video for web streaming.

I don't recommend doing a screen capture of more
than 800-600 unless you're going to compress the
image down, which makes HTML text illegible,
so I say capture only a portion of your screen, in
    general.

For screen-cap 3-5 frames per sec. is fine. Live
action needs about 15 fps, else it looks jerky.

File size = still image size x frame rate + size
    of audio file.

You can reduce audio by going mono. Halfing your
frame rate when you go to FLV cuts your file in
    half, almost.

Kbps settings: stay at 256kbps or under. You go
over and your viewers have trouble.

The best FLV codecs are NOT FREE.
