Capabilities of WordPress

Hi All

Newbie here, please be kind :p

I'm looking into CMS for affiliate marketing. I have used Joomla for other web applications than affiliate sites so am familiar with it. However loads of IMs seem to use and highly recommend Wordpress.

I've read a couple of Joomla vs WordPress threads - but just wanted to double check before I started learning Wordpress - I presume it can do anything required for affiliate marketing - standalone pages etc? I know the capabilities of Joomla quite well but want to make sure I make the right choice before I start!

Is there anything in other sites source code I can look at, to determine if a site uses wordpress? Any giveaways in there?

    One giveaway about WordPress is that you can look for the sites Administrator Page Login at http://websitename.com/wp-admin - on most WordPress installations this will result in a WordPress login screen.

    WordPress is great for all sorts of sites, including affiliate marketing ones. Yo can create a s many static pages a s you want and can elect to have your first page be a static one instead of a blog page.

    A WordPress site goes together quickly and indexes well with Google. It's very easy to administrate and with a wealth of Plugins and Themes it's a versatile platform.

    I'd highly recommend it.

      Thanks for your input, it just seems like the way to go. I'll install it on my own site in a sub-directory and give it a whirl I think.

      I've made wrong choices in the past with eCommerce software, so while I'm starting out with affiliate marketing I wanna get as much as I can 'right first time'.

    Actually, nothing more needs to be said here, as Bill has nailed it. I have been using wordpress for years now and also highly recommend it for exactly the same reasons.
