Can anyone please tell me the best design suite to use for
creating website banners, mainly 468x60 & how easy is
it to create, as I don't want to waste too much time on
it, if it's going to be frustrating to complete.

    I use Paint.net to creat my banners. It's a free tool and very easy to use. I've used it for my headers as well.

      I've watched a couple of you tube videos about photoshop & it
      looks really good but quite compilcated.

        Actually guys, Fireworks CS4 is the best software for creating banners (and other web graphics). It's compression capabilities alone are a lot more powerful than Photoshop. Not only will it make smaller files, but it can intelligently compress graphics containing images and text, using different algos for each element thus optimising each part individually for legibility vs file size.
