Can someone tell me how this is done?

Hey there,

I'm wanting a more professional look to my sites, so far I just use wordpress and Kompozer. I leave a lot to be desired.

I ran across a site that I thought I would show here and see how hard it is to do something like this.

Niche Market Research | Keyword Research Services | The Niche Researcher

I have nothing to do with that site but I like the way the header is actually part of the overall background. Would love to learn how to make your header and background seem as one.

Also, the pic of the gal in the header has her arm hanging over the border for the content area. How the heck do you have pics that stand in front of other features? Like borders??

Are we talking special software? Hire a designer? Can a person with basic skills make a site that looks like this.

    That site belongs to Warrior Lisa Stoops, but it was done by Coverscorp.com. I'd love to find out how to do those kinds of pics that hang over the edge too.

      Its actually done quite simply.

      Have a look at the source of the site.

      First they insert a big table (100% wide) and set the background of the site to the background image.

      Then inside the table they set the header, which has been designed to merge with the background on the outside and center that.

      And then another table contains the content for the sales letter. Again, set to centered.

      Its not that complex.

      Thanks everyone for your replies!

      I was looking at the code before I posted here, But didn't see how it was done. Sounds like I need to have another look to see what I missed.

      I do have photo shop but my trial version of dreamweaver has expired and its too expensive for me to buy right now.

      Just knowing that it's not that hard encourages me to look deeper and see if I can figure out how they did it.

      I have Kompozer and photo shop elements 5.0. Maybe between the two I can come up with something similar.

      Paying someone to create it for me would be great but the money just isn't there right now.
