Tool For A Non-Coder Create Magazine Style Wordpress Theme?

I am not a coder or site designer. I am relegated to the world of WYSIWYG Wordpress theme development.

Are there any simple tools similar to Artisteer that can be used to design and build themes for Wordpress?

I looked at Artisteer and liked the simplicity it offered of click and build, but the themes were rather simplistic also, and others in the forum here seem to think the bloated code will incur a penalty as Google measures site load time.

Also, I did not see any ability to use Artisteer to build magazine style themes. That would be a plus.

Any suggestions, please, and pretty please.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

The Atahualpa theme is about as versatile as they come.

In the end you have to learn some code if you want your
stuff to look cool - or hire it out. Atahualpa makes WP
highly configurable and you can rough-out stuff pretty
good with no code skills, but refining the look requires
    fooling with CSS.

    Hi Kirk

The designers of the Atahualpa theme are about to release a development environment called "Themeframe", which is a WYSIWYG editor for creating WordPress Themes.

BytesForAll WordPress WP Themes ThemeFrame at Beta 6 now

It's not free, you can get the Beta by joining their site and making an 80 dollar donation. After it's in production it will sell for 100 dollars.

I have no experience with this, I'm more of a text editor type of coder myself - just thought I'd put it out there in case it was useful to you.

      Thanks Loren & Bill,

I've seen the name Atahualpa around, but have no familiarity with the theme, system or their site. The videos look okay, but I really would like to test drive it before I shell out money as I am susceptible to the lot of outflow syndrome when I start looking for something.

While I am not a coder, I do learn a bit about it over time as I look through scripts and css files. I forget it quickly since it is not my focus, but it doesn't totally scare me.

That being said, do you "think" the Atahualpa system will allow me to make some "magazine" style pages, similar to Branford, or the iNews I have on Consultant Supply Room | Consultant Supply Room ?

      thanks,
      Kirk
