Redo HTML into Joomla

Is it possible to redo a HTML site into a Joomla membership site and keep the URLs of old site pages? I'm trying to figure out how much work would be involved.:confused:

  • It's not that easy, but it can be done - the amount of work depends to a degree on how many pages you have to convert.

    First you need to build or obtain a suitable Joomla template. Next you need to define all of the same "pages" as the original site had.

    After that you'll need to create and edit a .htaccess file to change the URL's of teh new site to match the old one.

    You may be able to leverage Joomla's "SEF Friendly" links feature to make this easier.

    • If you use Dreamweaver, there are extensions out there that you can install which will embed the PHP code for you in the appropriate spots. I.e. left, right, banner, breadcrumbs, etc. I can't remember what it's called off hand, but do a search for Dreamweaver Joomla 1.5 extension. You should find several of them. Good luck!
