Need Help about My Static HTML site

I hope I am posting this to the correct forum.

I have a static html site with a steady traffic. My problem is that as it is a static site I am not able to add new pages or modify the content quickly. So I would like to know if this site can be converted to some CMS like wordpress or other.

I had though of wordpress but my site pages end in .html and wordpress doesn't have that feature. So if I convert it to wordpress I will lose the traffic and rankings.

Your suggestions in this regard would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

May I ask what you are using to build/create new HTML pages? If you have access to Dreamweaver, you can replicate your current layout and simply save it as a template so that when you create a new page, it will look and function the same as the others.

Of course you'll need some knowledge about editable regions, etc, but if you'd like to maintain a website that doesn't need a CMS, then this is certainly possible.

This is what I would recommend. You can modularize your whole site, and make even site-wide changes super easily if needed.

This works, too, but I wouldn't save the template pages as DW template files. Wrestling with DW templates is a pain in the neck. Just save copies of representative pages to a folder called Templates (or whatever), then copy & paste the code from those into any new pages, and edit as you need.

That wasn't exactly what I was recommending. Instead, if the OP saves one of his web pages as a template (.dwt), then he can create a new page from that template since it seems as though he/she would like to keep the existing website structure/design, but add pages a little easier.

Hi! No. I understood exactly what you were saying. I'm saying that those template files are a pain to work with sometimes. If you just use an existing page's code, you don't have to worry about whether some areas are going to be editable or not, or having DW tell you that some part of the file was edited outside of DW so you can't save it the way you want to save it, etc. Copy & paste, and edit whatever you want to edit in any way you want.
