Good mornin Y'all,
I have a problem that hopefully some on this forum can help with.
I am a newbie to Im and website building. I am hosting a site with "DomainCheapsters.com". So far I have been able to upload the latest version of WP to the server using Filezilla into the root directory. I now have some pulgins that I need to upload to the server. That would be:

akismet
all-in-one-seo-pack
darkzen.1.1 (theme downloaded from the WP.org site)
deep link engine
and a text file (article)

Domaincheapsters has a Hosting control center/Control panel, which includes a file manager section.
How can I be sure where to put those files? In the root or some directory. Domaincheapsters customer service will only take you so far.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Marc,
Go into your cpanel & look for Fantastico. Open it & you will see a long list of things you can install on your domain. Wordpress is one of them. You need to install it before anything else will work.

Once that's done, log into your WP admin area, and you will find a section marked Plugins. Open that, and you will find an option to upload new plugins. Once they are uploaded, they will need to be activated before they will actually do anything.

    Hope that helps.

Your hosting company should have a Knowledge Base full of helpful articles on installation, etc. As the earlier poster said, use Fantastic or Simple Scripts, depending on what they provide.

But it's important to understand the process, especially if you plan on developing many sites.

Once you get Wordpress installed, these plugins need to go into the yourdomain.com/wp-content/plugins/ folder or directory. Are you able to see the WP site actual folders?

Oh, btw, I have Deep Link Engine and my Alexa ranking keeps lowering. It is so cool to watch. It takes time, but organic is the way to go.
