Best places for design contests?

Some the sites I have come across are:

99designs dotcom Leading Designer Marketplace for Logo Designs and More? - A bit too expensive $40 to list a contest, but some good talent there.

Global marketplace for logo design, business card design, graphic design and website design | crowdSPRING dotcom- $20, more reasonable price and nice designers.

Denook dotcom - $10 (best buck price) to launch a contest, and a lot of great talent, this is a fairly new site with great potential.

Design Outpost dotcom - Graphic Design Firm - Logos, Templates, Print Material, and More - Nice site, but too complicated.

If you know any more please post! Thanks.

I vote for 99designs. The quality is very high for the price. Plus the designers will tweak the design again and again until you're happy.

Design contests and free concepts are a blight on the world of design. requiring and providing free work is so unethical and demeaning. Any true designer won't participate in design contests long term.
what happens more oft than not is, 50 designers provide hundreds of hours of work (combined) and one, if any at all get chosen. meanwhile the designer is investing, or should be investing serious quality time into the concepts with no promise of being paid for time an skill.
Buyers participating in them are saying to a designer, my product isn't important and requires no thought or research. throw together a few circles and a couple of waves and thats good enough.
Imagine asking a group of other professionals, lets say..landscapers, to design 5 parts of my yard with no promise of payment, but if I don't like any of them, I don't pay anyone and they don't get their design concepts back or recoup their time.
Try that with a plumber, or mechanic or anyone else. We deserve the same respect.
Design doesn't have to be expensive, but it also doesn't have to be a cheap cattle drive.
20 dollars for a design? TEN? give me a break, that sickens me.

      I agree here 100%!
Hell sometimes I was so busy I would have to turn down jobs or ask for even more $. Of course I would take a job for the right price lol. But I would let them know that I was very busy, then would ask them for a due date and let them know if it's reasonable and I would be straight up with them if it's at all possible.

TIME is the most valuable thing. It just all depends how much you think YOUR time is worth.
