New eCommerce store and web design questions.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and learning!

My site is located in my signature, and as you can see the site is also new and I'm currently using the default template supplied by BigCommerce. Before my partners and I get to work on driving more traffic to the site, we would like a better visual presentation.

I have looked through the warrior forum products and services, but I believe all the designers generally work on minisites or Wordpress (if there is an offer for web design for ecommerce niches, let me know!).

For a site that is new like this, would it be reasonable to invest in a good web designer right now, or a less expensive custom template? We will be constantly adding new products and re-arrange new categories as well.

Also, what would be a good quote for website design or template geared toward this niche?

    Personally, I wouldn't invest too much in the design as what you have now seems to work really well. You should get a logo or change the background, but I don't think it's really worth it to spend too much money on a full-blown design. The site already looks professional, and while that may be the default template, it doesn't look default, and I've personally never seen it before on the web. It's not like the standard Wordpress template that pops up everywhere.

    If you want to change the look then a free template somewhere should suffice (as long as the graphics look professional).

      I agree with Christopher, the site looks good. The only thing you really need is a custom logo and title. I would spend the money on generating traffic. I know the site is plain, but its also clean and easy to read, people like the white space. Its well organized and easy to navigate. Big Commerce does give you different templates to work with right, and they do have recommended designers for you to refer to.

      But since your not happy with design, and you haven't started generating traffic yet, and your locked into a monthly payment with Big Commerce, maybe a wordpress store would be an alternative. You could spend your monthly payment on traffic generating instead.

      They are easy customize, easy to update products and catagories yourself, great with SEO, and there are plenty of inexpensive wordpress programmers for any problems you may run into.

      Take a look at this, its a more modern look, and you can't beat the price.
