Hello,

Just purchased the Web Page Maker product and it works just fine. Problem is that when I go to publish the site to go on the host, there seems to bits and pieces missing, including the links to the 3 pages. There is also a flash image that never seems to appear either.

Does anyone know this product? Support seems to be very distant just a a vagues PDF.

Well, I suggest you save the output from your browser when the site loads fine. Then you can upload that on your hosting. That should work, on firefox you can do that from File->Save Page As

Hi all found this old thread & wanted to know if anyone can help me....!

Can anyone tell me how to add the "alt tag"?
I have no idea how to do this with WebPageMaker.

I insert a picture from the image files - then what?

I cant access the HTML code on WPM.?????

Web page maker support doesn't exist. I have read numerous forum entries where people moan about NO support at all.

I use web page analyser for design tips - The bot always comes back with.....

Below are items you could improve:
None of the words in your phrase appear in header text.

You have an alt tag with no text in it. Either delete it to tidy your code or consider putting some relevant words in it.

Can anyone shed some light on using WPmaker & the alt tag please...!

Thank you for any help. Cheers Mike

Mike (and anyone else using WPM),

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... I've used WPM in the past, and it produces really bad code (ie it's not "standards-compliant" at all). If you upload an HTML file that it creates to W3C, you'll see what I mean.

What that basically means is... webpages that you publish in WPM will look OK in some browsers, but will look screwed up in others.

WPM works fine for knocking out quick prototypes, but as far as making real websites is concerned... there are much better tools out there for that.

    Hi Brandon

Yeh....! I hate to agree...! (I should have moved on a while back)
    Thanks for the tip.

I have built a little selection of sites that advertise my services in all the local areas.

WPM is so quick to put something together.
I have put my business out to the local area & it works ok, just not as good as I could have done, if I was to have gone with something a little more "professional".

Anything you can suggest I should move onto?

    Thanks
    Mike

      Mike,

I'm really not into WYSIWYG website builders, so I couldn't really recommend one in particular, if that's what you're looking for. All the ones I've tried in the past suffer from the same problem (messy, non-standards code output). The exception would be Dreamweaver.

Nowdays, I code most of my sites from scratch using either Netbeans or Notepad++ (depending on the size of the project).
