Very impressive!
Apple - HTML5 Showcase - Video

The web is getting exciting Soon we will be able to design in a very similar way to traditional print, while still keeping page data sizes small, and content SEO friendly.

I'm starting to believe the hype. Bye-bye flash!

Flash is here to stay for awhile. To the best of my knowledge, flash files are small while the other formats are large. This means that it take less bandwidth to send a flash file which means the file can load faster.

Most product launches use flash based players.

In the future (10 years), when the speed issue is not a problem, we will not need flash players.

Until the high high speed internet is in place, we will need flash.

I agree, but I think we will be seeing less and less of it in the future. It's already waning.

The demise of Flash is being helped along by:
      The arrival of HTML5.
      Accessibility problems in Flash.
Apples lack of support for Flash in iPhones and iPads.
Increased popularity of CSS and Jquery.
Flash Lite being an utter failure for mobile devices.
      Flashes problem with downward compatibility.
      Flash is a CPU hog.

What other formats are you talking about?

Flash files can be small for very basic stuff, but many of the more interactive flash sites are huge.
Take a look at 2 Advanced:
      2Advanced v5 - Attractor
Impressive, but a huge filesize for whats is effectively an interactive gallery.

Speed is not the issue at all. The issue is web standards.

To use Flash, developers need proprietary software, and users need a browser plugin.

With HTML5, we will eventually have native browser support for all sorts of interactive multimedia applications.
Not only that, but the content will be much more SEO friendly.
Admittedly, the open web video codec issue is still to be resolved, but we'll get there.

I can see Flash hanging around for a long time in the online gaming world, but it will be used less and less in more standard web development.

Current Flash devs will take to HTML5 like ducks to water, and everyone will reap the benefits.

I spent months studying Flash, and I still wont lament its demise. I see it as a "stop-gap" solution that will be relegated to the fringes of the web within a couple of years.

To play H.264 encoded MP4 video that plays natively in HTML5 capable browsers. All flash players are doing is playing the same file.

That's (one of) the advantages of HTML5 is standard markup for embedded media:

      <video src="thefile.mp4">
      <audio src="thefile.mp3">

      Etc...

It's taken years for html 5 to develop as it has...
Flash will develop and evolve also.

    Everything has it's it place.

Alot of people get caught up in some sort of "loyalty game" to one tool or the other.
These are simply tools, to get the best outcome for yourself (and your viewers).

It'll be all about market share. If HTML5 doesn't work for 90% of all users people will stay with flash. I hope that companies like Google and Apple will introduce features (and not products that simply don't support flash. Yes iPad I'm talking to you) that will make people upgrade to HTML5 browsers

    Great discussion here!!!!

One more thing about Flash is that people are working on a new formate. One of the people working on this new formate is Adobe.

Also, the current most popular formate is H.264. This formate is free for commercial use, but in 2015 those who use this formate will have to pay to use it. To see the article by searching at Video Maker website. Sorry I don't have enough post to share the link.

Glad that people on this site have great knowledge!!!!
