Using Google Optimizer

I put a thread at the main warrior forum with a question. The thread has moved down several pages with no replies. I think I figured out the answer to my question on that thread.

I still have one more question about using Optimizer. Is it giving me an A/B rotation between two landing (squeeze) pages even if the person didn't come to the site through Google?

If I test by using off-line advertising to send people to the website by having them type in the URL, will Optimizer still rotate A/B pages?

EDIT: Actually the entire project is getting wors. I have Optimizer working just fine except for one major glitch. The two index pages I am having Optimizer rotate were each designed using APDIVs. I worked with them so they would each look the same in Firefox or the more popular IE8.

When I add the Google tracking code to the HTML of the two test pages, the positioning of the APDIVs moves to such that they are now stacking on top of each other and no longer readable.

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

Doesn't anybody here use Optimizer? How do you do your testing?

    i have recently started using optimizer on one of my sites. if you want to post the site address i will have a look at the code. may have something to do with where you have placed the optimizer code.

    not having any issues with my site in optimizer. both pages are displaying correctly.

    I sent you a PM.

    I seem to have it working now. Google's instructions said to put the control script at the very top of the first page being tested. They specified it was to go before absolutely anything.

    So I put it above the doctype W3C tags. That made the apDivs seem to move. I know they didn't really move, Adobe has a good explanation about why apDivs show up funky in some browsers at some screen resolutions.

    Above the doctype tags caused a problem.

    When I moved Optimizers control script to a position just below the doctype tags (directly above the opening head tag), everything began to look just fine.

    I have even tried it on other computers, and at different screen resolution settings. It looks good.

    There must not be many people here at the WF using Optimizer. I wonder what they use to run tests.

    Next I get to fire up Google Anylitics and see how that works.

  • Hi Don Yeah all looks good now. When I installed Optimizer code I thought it was strange that they said put it above everything. Looks like it is in the right place now. I have only just started using Optimizer so I'm interested to see results. Site I am using it on is a friend's site that doesn't get a lot of traffic atm. Interested to see how long it takes to get results. Good Luck with your testing. Steve
