Non-copyable web text

Hi,

I've been on many recipe sites where you can just copy and paste a recipe to Word.

But then I've been on motivational sites where I've wanted to copy a thought-provoking quotation or some other profound statement... and the entire site is non-copyable. So then I just type the statement.

I'd like to know how to make your web page non-copyable. Anyone?

Thanks,

Mary Ann

    • Have you considered using your "Print Screen" key, then open your "Paint" or "Paint.NET" program?
You can utilize the brief tutorial at: newgm.media.officelive.com/UsingYourPaintProgram.aspx
  • From my knowledge if someone can read it can save it
  • Sorry for the very late reply... I never got an email letting me know that there were responses. Thank you.
  • Convert your text to graphics (GIF, JPG, PNG), Flash, Silverlight, PDF or some other digital format that will prevent copying. If it's still in text format it can be copied easily, especially in Firefox.
  • If it's viewable online it can and will be copied.

There are allsorts of techniques that can be applied to prevent willy nilly copying but these will only deter those with basic pc/internet skills.

If you don't want it copied, don't put it online.
  • Try font replacement technique called cufon.
    Cufon fonts are not selectable.
  • Protecting the text or images in your site from copying is simply not possible.
  • You can protect your content from the beginners by disabling right clicks. But it is of no use for those who can view source of your site and know little bit about html tags.
