Yes. Its very easy. Just upload it into a directory using an FTP client, and then create a normal link to it.

I'd recommend uploading it as a zip if you want people to download. If its a pdf it will usually open in their browser.

You have a lot of options. As has been suggested teh simpleset method it to just FTP it up to your server.

If you plan on charging people to download your eBook you may want to consider a service like eJunkie - E-junkie Shopping Cart for selling downloads & tangible goods . They integrate with PayPal and provide a secure limited use link for your customers. They also integrate with AWeber and other autoresponders so you can build a list.

You should take a look at Premium Web Cart also. Reasonably priced. Integrates with Aweber. Good for upsells. They made great suggestions to me that increased my sales. One of them was that I have a hard copy of my book for people to buy. I use their fulfillment center and it works seamlessly when I get an order.

    Any ideas?

    thanks in advance,

You will need to hyperlink some text that points to the file.

Hello I would suggest using an FTP client such as filezilla. Remember with filezilla where it ask for host use ftp. then your domainname.com no www ok. Also I you mentioned being new to blogging. If your blog is your main domain name you made to need to put 21 in the port field. Now after you log in make sure you locate your public.html file and upload there. Also make sure the link to the ebook ends with .pdf good luck

      That will definitely the best.

But the simplest is to use cpanel to protect a directory. You can setup a password to protect it using password protect directory

not quite good, how if the visitor share the password???

that's why u need a dedicated plugins to handle the ebook so, no one can download the ebook before paying it.

wp-ecommerce didn't thread the session like that.

so if u want to buy the ebook, the account won't record if u already bought the ebook, the plugins only need to know "do u want to buy this ebook?"

so if u want to buy this ebook 500x, the plugin won't care about it.

this plugin thread the ebook as an item with quantity, so even ur registered member share their password, the second person can't download the ebook before payment made.

I have a similar question. I would like to upload a bunch of ebooks to my site(with picture) that when clicked on they will download for the customer. These are free ebooks so I am not worried about a shopping cart. Can someone one give me a step by step on how to get them on my site.

I use host gator and I am not the most tech savvy person. If it takes too much time to list could you please point me to a step by step tutorial or video that will help me out. Thanks

‘Nother newbie with a similar question I’m afraid.

I’m just starting out in internet marketing and am focusing on building a list. As part of my strategy I would like to participate in Giveaway events. As I have no HTML/programming skills, I have acquired some products which come complete with squeeze, thankyou and download pages.

I’m giving away the whole product, not just the ebook, so that others can either sell them or give them away.

I have a domain name and an account with both Hostgator and Aweber. I have downloaded Kompozer and FileZilla.

I’ve uploaded the files onto the server using the following path structure,

    DomainName.com/Recommends/various pages.htm.

There is no content on the domain name, or in the Recommends path.

I’ve integrated the optin form so that my list is updated and the confirmation e-mail is received, but I’m struggling with the download. In the Recommends directory I also have a zipped folder containing the giveaway.

When I click on the download link I get a 404 error. When I right click and Save Target As, I get an Internet Explorer message telling me that IE could not open the site.

    My download code is,

    <a href=http://www.DomainName.com/Recommends/FolderName.zip target="_blank">Click Here To Download Your Reports</a>

I’ve also tried to download just one pdf file, but I get the same results.

Can anyone tell me what the code should be?

Also, having read this thread, protecting against unauthorised downloads was something I hadn’t even thought of. As I’m not using Wordpress, can someone explain how I can do this?

    Thanks

    Amanda

Secure downloads are a little complicated, you would require at very least a .htaccess file in the directory of the download to keep anyone from downloading it and a script on your server to grab the file from the directory.

This is a great free script which is fairly easy to setup:
:: Smart File Download :: Free PHP Scripts

Our system also handles things like this and there are a few free slots left, PM soon enough and we might be able to set you up if you think it is something you can use.
