wordpress site

hi there just wonering about this

i know someone who got a site designed for them with a custom theme in wordpress

the homepage is a slightly different design to the rest of the site, very slightly, when i try to edit index page it says it#s uneditable

the company who designed it said oh it's not linked to wordpress we can change it but it will cost you etc etc

however when i look at the source it comes up with all the usual wordpress tags

so my question is are they taking the you know what and just doing it so they can make money, is there a permission set on it so when you hit index it comes up it the editor but just with the text uneditable?

    Hi Richard,

    How is it going all that apart?

    How are you trying to edit the index page exactly?

    Yes there are permissoins settings on the server that can prevent you from editing a file from the wp editor. The files to edit should be set to either 775 or 777

    But I personnaly never use the wp editor, I always DL and have a complete copy of a site locally and work on the file locally and then upload the changes. If it is not encrypted that method shoudn't prevent you from editng any files.
