Simple Question..... I think?

Hello Warrior World


I found a background wordpress template that I would like to edit (if

possible in Photoshop and adding to Dreamweaver). Nothing Major, just

add a title and minor touch-ups. The file contains Jpeg and PHP script but

no PSD file etc...




Question:

Is it possible to revert a JPeg file to an editable form for photoshop?

    Not as far as I know because it's in an exported, compressed format and not reversible.

    If the jpg file doesn't have any text on it, then you can import it into Photoshop and add text.

    However, if the text is already there, then it all depends on the background. If it is a solid background, then you can most likely change it. If it is a gradated background, or a background with a picture, then it gets trickier.

    Ditto on the background statement. If it has no lettering on it and is a photo style background I would suggest you use a copy of the file and use a seperate layer to try editing it. Other than that you would need the original graphic or photo file.

    You need to take the picture apart and have it in layers, which cannot be done from a single image, you can however try to reconstuct something similar on Photoshop, build it one layer at the time.

    Instead of altering the pic, I used free transforms and worked some layer magic. When I'm done, I'll unveil the final project.

    I like Nicky D's idea, but as far as I know there is no way to revert a jpg.

    Not only can you not go back, but every save will further degrade a JPG file. See this article for a demo of the effects when saving hundreds of times.

    Does saving damage JPEG? File Format Degradation! JPEG, TIFF, PSD Successive Saving & Destructive Edits Compared. Does copy or save damage my file?

    I thought those were pretty interesting results.

      Great article!

      Never though of it that way.

      To aviod the coruption of an important JPeg File, I always keep an original and a "play around" copy. Maybe I'm just a little anal. But thanks to the article, I have good reason.
