How do I set up Wordpress via Godaddy on an existing site

Hi,

I would like to add a blog to a company site, either blog.mysite.com or mysite.com/blog (does it make a difference?).
My site is hosted with godaddy.
Is it possible to setup a wordpress blog either as blog.mysite.com or mysite.com/blog?
Is it possible to make this blog look like the rest of my site?
Do you have a simple guide on how I should do this?

I have no experience with blogging or wordpress.

Thanks alot.

Best regards,
Thomas

Log in to Godady. Click on products, then web hosting. LAUNCH. This will launch the "Hosting Control Center". Now click on "Your Applications". Click on the tab that says "My Applications". Then choose Wordpress, it will open yet another page.... Click INSTALL. Then follow the steps. It will ask you what directory, you can choose enter /blog or whatever you choose. AFTER it is setup and running, add a SUBDOMAIN as blog.yoursite.com that way no matter how people enter it, they find it. i.e. blog.yoursite.com or yoursite.com/blog.

On whether you can make your new blog look like your site, it'll be easier if you use this theme equiX | xmarcos.com with a little modifications. Might need a little tweaks, but it'll be far easier than creating a custom wordpress theme that matches your site.

    Hi Thomas,

It is quite possible to make your wp look like the rest of your site indeed however that will take developper/designer skills, knowledge in HTML CSS and PHP .

As a matter of fact this is something I can do for you, done this before you can PM me if ever interested.

    Best regards,

No problem, glad I could help!
If you don't want to post the URL here, PM it to me, and I will take a look at your existing site and see how hard it would be to make Wordpress match it.

It may be simple, it may not... :-) Well, I mean simple as in for someone with no experience. If your regular site is a simple layout, it is easy enough to match headers, footers, colors, fonts, etc. You might be able to find a theme that almost matches right from the start, there are thousands available.

Thanks, I'll just figure out if I should go with the wordpress way.
I'm also thinking about just creating an XML file for RSS feed manually instead, just to keep things simple, since I'm not sure if I will need comments and such on the blog.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Create a subdomain, or just create a folder in your site directory, if your using cpanel it should be easy, otherwise use someting like filezilla. Then extract the wordpress zip into the folder/subdomain and configure it.

this makes a difference, more relevant mysite.com/blog if you can, and as far as making your site and blog look alike, any good designer should have no problem doing this for you. Make sure they have portfolio of examples of same thing you are trying to do.
