I am attempting to install a plr wordpress blog but just ran into problems trying to ftp on my hostgator account.

After ftp my folders and typing the url into firefox, I am getting the following error

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare wp_clone() (previously declared in /home/plaw193/public_html/sogomiconsulting.com/wp-includes/load.php:547) in /home/plaw193/public_html/sogomiconsulting.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2914

That usually only occurs on an upgrade problem . . . Do you know what WP release version is being used?

Try downloading the version manually from wordpress.org, then ftp the root-level files and the wp-admin and wp-includes folders directly to the root directory.

Are you saying that you are attempting to load content from another WordPress site onto a version 3.0 site by copying over the files? If so it doesn't work that way. WordPress content is stored in a MySQL database.

Bottom line - are you installing a brand new WordPress site or are you trying to move an existing site onto your host?

    Hi:
I purchased a plr blog at the forum about 8 months ago along with many other. I was given a folder with files for uploading.

I created dns, addon domain, create database, create my sql users,phpadmin-imported sql file, changed database user, database and domain name re confiq.php, ftp images and other content(here is where

I Think the problem lies, because when i was importing I was getting a lot of messages that the some files already existed and indicate if to overwrite with the source files)

If you followed the steps in sequence you shouldn't have received that message. Might be a good idea to start from scratch and do it in this order:

1 - Wipe all the files from your new site (the add on domain)

2 - Drop (i.e. delete) the database you made

3 - Create a new database and an account to go with it, give the account all permissions and note the login information.

4 - Use PHP My Admin or the equivalent to import the SQL file you were given with your purchased site. You should have no error messages, and it should result in a number of new tables in the database.

5 - Edit the wp-config.php file in your purchased site files and input the database login details

6 - FTP all the files (including the edited wp-config.php) up to your site.

That should do the trick .

One additional note - if you only purchased the blog files but did not purchase the domain then you need to do one more step, after step 3 and before step 4.

3a - Open the SQL file with a text editor and do a "Search and Replace" to replace all instances of the old domain name with the new one. Save the file, and then go to step 4.

    Best of luck with it

    @mywebwork:
Prior to reading your post. I downloaded the latest version of wordpress and and did the following

Deleted the old wp-includes and wp-admin directories on my web host (through your FTP ).
    # Using FTP I uploaded the new WordPress files to my web host, overwriting old files.
I can now see the generic blog theme when i enter my url in firefox. I'll have to try again.
