How can I shorten post on blog page on Wordpress Site?

I would like to have my posts only show a snippet on my blog page with a "continue reading" button that would lead to that articles actual page to finish reading it. I know some themes offer this as default but the one Im using ( twenty ten ) doesnt.

Anyhone know of a plugin that would be able to do this or maybe an easy way to edit the files to accomplish this?

      Yeah that is easy. Is there anywhere good that lists all the handy codes like that?

    There is a button that adds that code, and if you want it for each post, you could use a plugin. I use evermore for example, it adds the code automatically to each blog post.

    I use the "excerpts" plugin. It allows me to control the length of the preview and what can be included (ie img tags, etc)

    How about just the opposite? I want the full post to be displayed instead of just a snippet with the "continue reading" link. Anybody know if there's a plug-in for that? Or does it require a code modification? (twenty ten theme)

        Thanks, but that's how I have it set. The posts still are just shown as an excerpt, requiring a click on 'continue reading' to show the full post.
