Hi, I'm new to web design and am wondering if anyone has used CoffeeCup HTML Editor and CoffeeCup Visual Site Designer. Are they good or are there some better that are at a similar price.

Thanks

I hated it. When it came time I couldn't take it anymore and wanted to remove it from my computer, it wouldn't let me. I think the interface is terrible and just the way it does everything.

Wordpress, Dreamweaver, what I believe will soon become much bigger is rapidwweaver.

What I want to suggest to you is to google "web design programs", click on the links and read about their editors. Then they will usually offer a 30 day trial, and you can test them all for upto 30 days. They all offer many tutorials to.

    Hope I helped,

    Caleb

    Hey Raptors,

I agree with nelsoncaleb in that there are a lot better design suites out there then CoffeeCup. I bought CoffeeCup when I first started out which was quite a few years back. Here's my recommendation when it comes to newb's and webdesign...

    1. Microsoft Frontpage (MF) and Dreamweaver (DW) are not newbie intuitive and have a big learning curve in which it will take a lot of effort and time to learn the intricacies of the software. There are a lot of tutorials online which will help shorten the learning curve, but again time consuming.

    2. [Newb's Friendly Solution] Artisteer has virtually nil learning curve and is extremely newbie intuitive. Artisteer ($70 - $120) also costs much less then either MF ($240) or DW ($300). I've been able to pump out a full website with Artisteer in under an hour. Another bonus with Artisteer vs. MF or DW is Artisteer can export your web design as an HTML, Wordpress, Drupla, or Joomla template. It's pretty impressive.

So for a clean simple website designer that is newb's friendly - I would recommend Artisteer.

    Artisteer = artisteer.com

Thanks for your recommendation, although I need a website design software for an ecommerce store, probably powered by Magento.

        Hi Raptors

I use both - Artisteer (usually only for Wordpress Themes $49.95 or $129.95) and XSite Pro ($197) for everything else. I find XSite Pro fairly intuitive and you can create a basic website quite easily following the basic tutorials, but there is a lot of additional functionality and XSite Pro 2 can also be integrated with most shopping cart applications.

        Trust this helps.

        Cheers,
        Peter

P.S. If you do decide to invest in XSite Pro 2 you could of course use my affiliate link - doesn't cost you any more and I would receive a commission. But even if you get it straight from Intellimon you are making a good investment.

Sounds new to me. How does this work?
It caught my attention because I literally love coffee so I like to know everythin about coffeecup software.
But of course if this does not work properly well then I'll just make a design with an inspiration of a cup of coffee. What you think eh?

Just came across this thread and found a lot of positive mentions for XSitePro website design software. Sounds like it would be useful for someone like me, as I'm very new to all of this and would appreciate software that would take care of some key elements, at least in the beginning.

Does anyone have any other recommendations or do you agree with XSitePro?
