FREE SCANNING SOFTWARE

Hello folks

Does anyone know how to use GIMP with a flatbed scanner?

Basically, I've been using my scanner with Photoshop on my laptop but am looking at using free software that does the same job as Photoshop for my PC.

I've already installed GIMP on my PC and have found that it has many of the features that I used in Adobe Photoshop, however, I'm not quite sure how to use my scanner with GIMP so any advice would be most welcome.

  • Can you please mention the operating system you are using? Because this tool is compatible with both Linux and Windows. Each has different ways of importing the pictures.

    • Hi iamscottj :-)

      I'm using Windows Vista.
  • GIMP does not have built in scanner support. It utilizes whatever scanner support is available from your operating system.I think you must configure the scanner with Twain support as it is the standard scanner interface on Windows.

  • There are so many software for the free scanning. It can use any scanner support is available for the operating system system think you need to configure the TWAIN scanner support, because it is a standard Windows interface for the scanner.
  • Most readers have their own software. This usually includes a scanner driver, and basic image editor to help you scan and edit photos .
