Hi, guys, I am stuck with WP although it is working fine, I was trying to set up a splash page, read WP's own tutorial, almost messed up my CSS code still not working. Basically I would like to create a splash page on WP. Without all the sidebars and widgets.
I am a girl, yes, I can do HTML, but I cannot do CSS. And before you ask, I am blonde, I am just dying my hair.
Any help very much appreciated.

Do you mean you read the "Creating a Static Front Page" on the WordPress Codex?

I'd link to it but my post count is too low. There is also a thread here that describes the process pretty well...just do a google search for "wordpress splash page" and it should be the 7th result.

If all you want to do is create a static home page without sidebars & widgets then it's pretty simple:

1 - Create a template from your theme that has no sidebars.
2 - Create a page with WordPress to use as the home page, assign the template above to that page.
3 - Create a regular WordPress page to use as the posts or blog page.
4 - In your Admin Dashboard in the Reading Settings change the "Front Page Displays" to a static page - use the pages you created in the previous steps as the Front and Posts pages respectively.

And that's it! The beauty of it all is that it only requires HTML to make the template (no CSS, unless you want to use it) and it can be performed by anyone regardless of gender or hair color!

But I am sorry I do not remember where it came from...I get many...
