I recently got the thesis theme, and I was wondering if the key words needed to be separated by commas AND spaces or just commas?

Ex. hello, there, world

or

Ex. hello,there,world

Does it matter?

Are you talking about the meta keywords field? Yes, you separate them by commas. However, most search engines (including Google) ignore meta keywords.

You should pay much more attention to your title tag and description.

I would read this article on SEO for Thesis. Edit: I can't post links yet, but search google for "doublemule seo thesis".

    Thanks,
    Casey

P.S. If you want to see proper SEO for Thesis check out my recent article on a neighborhood in South Carolina. My site runs Thesis.

The bold keywords in the URL are my niche key words and were the primary target. On the article page you can see custom URL, custom title tag and description for google, proper ALT tags in images, and most of all, relevant content.

Now search google for those words. This is a low-competition keyword, but I just wrote this article 3 days ago. I'm ranking #1 on my niche key word but have also set myself up for broader keywords in the long term.

Proper SEO and relevant content cut through the chaff.

    Thanks,
    Casey

Agree with caseym, meta KWs aren't that important. Take advantage of the custom permalink option and make sure you have your keywords clearly at the front of the permalink, if possible.
