    Hi Sky_tay,

I can't comment on free hosting as i've never been able to find anywhere with a reliable service and without ads all over my site!

In terms of building web pages I use Komposer for the simple reason I know how to use the software. I'm sure there are better tools out their on the market for people starting out though.

Anywho, good luck with the web design - I taught myself a year ago and have now designed and launched 4 websites for fun!

wordpress or joomla are Content Management Systems (CMS). They are both customizable depending on your level of programming knowledge. You can extend their functionalities easily with plugins and modules. They are both kind of easy to manage.

I used this software because It's user friendly. On the other hand If you're in a hurry u can try wizard you will no longer provide codes for your back ends the wizard will do it for you(Dreamweaver)...You can surf the web about free hosting.

If you are looking for the development of flexibility and freedom, your best choice is Drupal. There are also some modules, a huge network marketing to do things in Drupal is free, but will cost you a lot of their premium is a WordPress plugin.

If you are looking for flexibility and development freedom then you top choice is drupal. Also there are a lot of modules that do tremendous things for internet marketing that are free in drupal but will cost you a premium for them as a wordpress plug-in.

Reliable Free Hosting is an oxymoron.

Plus some signups will reject you if your site is on a free hosting platform.

Have to agree with above posts. But Zone said it best! For 4.95/mo HostGator gives you just about an infinite amount of tools to use for Free! Simply google coupon code to enjoy first month Free...., cancel if you wish but you will not be disappointed!

$4.95/mo for an almost unlimited amount of tools? Who can beat that? As far as I'm concerned that's as close to free hosting as one can get! But I'm on their $24.95/mo plan.

Hostgator is great for someone who doenst plan to build a big site. I built a site up to a great traffic rate in 2 years and hostgator became a nightmare. Even with me having a reseller acount and never exceeding my bandwidth. Its just that I was bogging things up I guess because of the traffic. Ultimately I just moved my sites to cloud and I got truly unlimited everything.

Hostgator wouldnt even send me warnings, they would shut my site down and then I had to go through their bajillion security walls to get access by proving im me to fix optimization things to get my site back up and running. Stuff that took 8 hours for them to let me get in where if my site was up I could have fixed in 5 minutes. was a load of bs.

There is a lot of technical things that must be considered when buying hosting. If you putting up a blog featuring sweet betty lou and her recipes and life story that kinda hosting is great.

I like your analogies but I gotta agree with indigo jack.

I got a site that is #1 ranked in google for the 2 biggest search key phrases and never past #3 in others. It's also #1 ranked in google for foreign googles. It has plenty of links to one of my other sites on it, and has for almost 2 years ... never slipped a spot in google.

Create content, interest related to your site, the more pages with useful content you have, the better. Make the body of your index page and targeted to avoid the need for the user to scroll down on any page.

Another vote for HostGator. Pay the $5 per month it'll save you a ton of headaches.

Learn Wordpress it's easy and will get you going fast.
Go buy a theme from themeforest to get going even faster.

Use Notepad++ for coding on a PC and Filezilla for FTP. Both are free

I have to agree with the above posts. There is no such thing as FREE web hosting. On the other side you may find some, but don't expect your website will be trusted on a free hosting server. Also, there will be issues with speed and customer care.

To sum this up, it is better to go on shared hosting for $5 a month or less!

Just to add to what others have said - free hosting normally means the provider slaps adverts all over your website too. Also, by paying for the service you can bet you'll get a more reliable service as well as some sort of on going support which always comes in very very helpful!

You can design a website that looks fantastic people, but a little to see if it takes a long time to load. Your design must be optimized for the web, and should not take more than 15 seconds to load. It is like trying to read a newspaper when someone puts you on the shoulder several times. In addition, as the visitors with slow connections can be sorry that you wasted their time by forcing them to load animations and sound files against their will.

I've heard hostgator offers a nice package but try to consider godaddy as well as they are more economical. Just choose the right package and for sure you'll gonna like it. But also you can just get opinion from people here as they might have more experienced on this.

Listen up, the actual site is a bit rudimentary, but if you want a simple WP blog put up with minimal content and a contact form, Free Small Business Website Builder - GET YOUR SITE FOR FREE! can do it for you.

The catch is you have to get your Hostgator hosting account through their link.

There are so many options for free hosting. Some sites will provide you free webspace and a subdomain also. So you can host your pages there. For designing you should go fore Dreamweaver or Frontpage. These tool are very helpful for freshers.
You also can book free domains at co.cc site. Here domains with ext co.cc are free.

I dont recommend free hosting at all. If you are planning to have a professional blog, you must spend few bugs on hosting so that you would be able to concentrate on your blog rather than getting worried about the ads that would be showing up on your ads or your blog being too slow most of them or not responding at all. About the CMS, i would wordpress is the best to start a blog as it has a huge variety of pluggins. You can do almost everything and anything with the help of widgets and pluggins offered for wordpress.

No such thing as good free hosting

Its only about $60 a year for qaulity hosting (just search for web host coupons on twitter)

You'll never be in control of your site if you use blogger or any other free site
