Best options for mobile sites

Hi all,

I've got all my site content in a database so repackaging it for a mobile site should be easy.

In theory...

But I've found that ASP.NET is rubbish at detecting mobile devices as the browser config file is out of date. I could use CSS to make the site more mobile friendly but my Android phone doesn't use the mobile tags. Is there anything else I could do? I rather fancy having a mobile site with Google mobile ads on, but wouldn't I get a duplicate content penalty?

Is there another way of doing things? Could I build a m.mysite.com mobile site on my GoDaddy hosting account?

I know there are paid for browser sniffing products but its not economically viable for me to use them yet. HubPages obviously uses something (their site looks fab on my Android phone) but they have money to spend.

  • When you are creating a WML document all you need is notepad or another text editor, just like for HTML.this tells the phone that it is interpreting a WML document and which WML standards it is using.
