:confused:Hello Everyone,
I am a newbie and need some help with the setup of my "PadGen" Pad file. I just started about 6 days ago setting up my website. I have little to no computer knowledge, but I am a quick learner. Anyway, I ran into a problem during this PadGen pad file setup. I'll copy and paste my problem. The skinny of it is this- I have a wordpress site and I just created a toolbar application using Conduit that I want to send out to software directories. The PadGen is asking for a direct download URL for the file. I was told that I can't upload an exe file on the wordpress site. So, I contacted my hosting company asking about having the exe file in my file manager, but he said that I am using a shared server that won't support an exe file. So how do I go about creating a place (URL) for my exe file? Again, I don't know much about this internet mumble-jumble stuff- I'm learning as I go. I had been reading little snippets of info here and there. After creating my toolbar, I saved the file on my desktop, but again now what?-as far as having it accessible by other software vendors? The setup process is asking about the URL for the XML file that hasn't been created; because I thought this PadGen is suppose to generate the XML file? Any help, would be greatly appreciated ASAP! I'm a single mom who's broke and desperate to finding another income source on the internet. So, any guidance would be much appreciated, but please keep it simple. I'm almost done except for this small hiccup. I can then start marketing and hopefully start making a lot of money assuming this technique works as far as driving tons of traffic to my site. I want to finish this process now because I've come to far to turn back now.Oh, and lastly. I did a lot of backlink building or so I thought. However when I went to sites were they said I just had to add my URL and click each link which I did. And each link showed it was accepted and I tested the link. Yet when I used a backlink checker it showed I had none except the ones that wordpress already had setup in its sites? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

Below is the info the PadGen is requiring?:

Program Icon
URL where an icon for your program can be found. It should be in GIF, JPG or PNG format..
PAD XML File
URL for the location where this PAD file will be located on your website. See remarks in the
Primary Download
Primary download URL where customers can download your program from. This should be a direct download URL, not an URL pointing to a HTML page.
Secondary Download
Secondary download URL where customers can download your program from. This should be a direct download URL, not an URL pointing to a HTML page.

    Hi Deebaze,

Who are you hosting with? You can certainly upload .exe files to a shared account. You can upload the file through cPanel or with an app like Filezilla. First create a folder (i.e. software) at the root level of your directory (public_html), and upload the software, the icon, and the pad file there.

Are you aware that software directories are now rejecting toolbar submissions? It would be best for you to create another type of software.
