Creating an iPad app for a cookbook

Hello all - I am looking for help, taking a .pdf of a cookbook and creating an ipad version that could be marketed on the iPad. I do have a Kindle version as well.

The sales letter is at Jane Butel Best of Mexican Regional Recipes Ebook -

Let me know what you think, and if someone knows how to make an ipad app from a .pdf? So you could get like a sample chapter, then unlock it...

Because trying to sell a Mexican recipe cookbook through the usual PPC channels is not working out.:confused: thanks so much

    Doesn't ipad support pdf documents?

    Isn't ipad browser reading normal html pages?

    Have you tried the "buy" button at the link you refer? No wonder there's no sales, but moreover, imho, there would be much to do on this page to increase conversion.

      Thanks for the replies....I did not realize that the iPad is not like the Kindle...but I do think it would be good to offer a free chapter with an unlock code, and will check the link to see what that involves....

      NetMan, I agree the sales page needs improvement - but you kinda freaked me out with the Buy button - I tested the buttons and they work - Are you saying that the shopping cart is a loser for conversion? If so, I do agree....there is high abandonment...unfortunately I only made the ebook and have no control over the shopping cart, which is on my partner's site.

      Any suggestions appreciated, send me a message if you will, thanks so much ;>)

    As NetMan stated, you can just open a PDF using your iPad. It isn't like the Kindle where you have to submit your book to Amazon where they convert it into native format (you'll be able to read PDFs on the Kindle 2, however).

    I'm a programmer and I know how some iOS basics, what do you mean by:

    Do you mean you want to create an app that displays the chapters and unlocks them as you progress (or as you pay?)

    That might be complicated, you will need to get your object oriented programming hat on if you're doing it without help. (:

    I'm glad your buy button now works, it was not at the time I checked.

    The bounce back on the SC might be more due to some aspects in the the way things are presented, than by the SC itself. But I agree the use of a SC application for a ONE product site is kind of odd.

    The design of the site, sorry, has an very outdated look and very poor design, and many mistakes. I haven't read the sales page but the graphic element use and display need much improvement as well.

    Where is the content?
    More importantly, where is the traffic coming from?

    are you looking to convert it to an ePub format? I am building a iPad cookbook right now as well that will have the video embeded of the recipes to make the book dynamic based off my TV series.
