Transfer domain name to new host

I'm trying to transfer my domain from 000webhost to hostgator. I added the domain to hostgator, transferred all the files and changed the nameserver at godaddy to the hostgator nameservers 4 hours ago but when I type in my address it still goes to 000webhost. Am I supposed to delete the account on 000webhost or would that not matter?

  • If it's only been a few hours, it's possible that the domain name propagation hasn't had time to complete. The information has to be copied to nameservers around the world. Sometimes that takes up to 48 hours to work properly.

If, after 48 hours, you're still getting your old site then you've probably got an issue in the configuration somewhere. GoDaddy and/or Hostgator support should be able to help you figure that out.

    • yes.. this is absolutely true.. domain name propagation need some times and it may be different between domains...
you can contact the online support on your webhosting.. you can get a complete report from them..
  • Is your problem resolved?
