URGENTLY NEED HELP WITH WORDPRESS

I have installed xampp (apache) and wordpress - that's all fine. However, am trying to change the 'blog' url to a suitable name - localhost is what is showing at present. In blogger, all I did was create a url but wordpress doesn't work the same way.

This is VERY urgent and please explain in english as I am a total idiot when it comes to tech talk.

Have read the 'help' in wp to no avail and searched the web to no avail.

  • It is localhost because it will only work and be accessed using your "localhost" ie: not uploaded in a real web server.

    You can however change the blog address if you login to Wordpress admin > Settings > WordPress address or Blog address (URL).

    Note though that if you actually change localhost to something else (ex: an actual domain name), your blog may stop working because it is only meant to work locally.

    wordpress.org is a software meant to be used on a real online web server to create blogs using your own domain.

    wordpress.com is similar to blogger meant to create hosted blogs using a subdomain from wordpress.com
  • Thank You Mark You have saved my sanity. I did what you said and voila I now have a blog site with the url as I wanted it to be.
