Wordpress exports - what gets exported?

I thought I knew the answer to this one, but have had some weird exports lately, and realise i don't know after all.

Can I expect the menus and widgets to be included in a standard wordpress export?

And, suppose a custom field is used to set a featured photo for example, would that info be included in the export?

(I'm doing plr wordpress blogs, and the simplest way is to handover the theme, the plugins and an export.xml - but have had some unexpected things drop out of exports lately, and just need a little reassurance

thanks

A WordPress export is another name for a Database Backup, so what you're actually getting is all the information stored in each post and page. Add-ons like Widgets, Plugins, or the Themes themselves are not included in the backup. You've got to make a list of that stuff.

Looks like in this 3+ versions, this option doesnt exists, until you download plugin for that. Wonder why they did that...?

You should do this things before backup

    1. Export the .xml file through export database option
    2. Note down the list of widgets and any modifications done to them
    3. Download the plugins if they are edited.
    4. Download the theme if its modified.

The custom code added to theme or plugin doesn't get exported. Hence you need to download them and install in the new place
