Depends what you want them for.

Just for the creative aspects, I rather like the ones of the people. Interesting concept.

Of the others, I think I prefer #2 with the floodlit stage and curtain. You could probably make good use of that somewhere. Like, introducing a presentation.

The others I find a little too busy and "heavy".

If you purpose of rating it, is to know rather other people like me, would think "this guy knows what his doing". Then I'd rate it

    8/10

I see some somewhat simplistic photoshoping, however it does look like you know what you are doing. I'd probably make you an offer to make a header for me or something.

However I do not see anything extremely difficult there, and as we all know, a 10/10 requires something spectacular Don't get me wrong, I think it looks beautiful. Keep up the good work bud

I'd give it 4/5 stars. You've done it the way it should be. Plain and simple. Try to be more playful in terms of colors and style.

Not bad, I like the first one.
I'm not too impressed by the rest, but I'm just a little bit of a downer sometimes.

The first is probably the best IMO. I'd give it a 9/10. The people vary from 5 to 7 of 10.

The others are too busy or bland, IMO to rank above a 5.

Great work for just playing around!

Though it's not that astounding, the works will past as a portfolio. Not too good but bad either. Just keep up the good work and do some more practice. You'll be an expert for sure.

I myself do not like pics with person.
About the rest, I prefer the first 2. Regarding to the other 2, i think that the colors do not match :p
Anyway, they are great. Very good job!

I really like the ones with the wording, they are well done and look very professional. I truly think they are beautiful.

The pages/photos effect is very interesting. In terms of skill they are great, but it depends on what you would use images like that for. But still, they look very clean and professional. Good job.

I would rate it 7/10 they are great but you need to play more with the colors. Anyway, have you tried Adobe Photoshop Lightroom? Many photographers prefer using this software than Adobe Photoshop CS5.

    Hi MagicAce,

My advice is to be more subtle with your drop shadow affects. Believe it or not, sometimes the intensity of drop shadows can be the difference between something looking tacky or professional. Another thing is to carefully pick which colours go together and where your certain images are placed within an image. There are a whole load of other stuff that can make images pleasing to the eye but that's a whole topic in itself.

Having said that the top one is the best one for me. It works because nothing is exaggerated and also black, white and blue always go well together.

i give you a 9 out of 10 score. This is really great work.
I use PS a little to do my grapics for my websites, i dont hav these creative ideas like you but i do get what i want done. But it takes me alot of time. the think that i discover is that their a a lot of easy ways to do creation that looks like it took a long time. Its just the know how of using the tool for this software.

I'd like to ask, is this your first time using PS? If yes, then great job especially with the ones with people on it.

Most of PCWatch.com pictures are worked by Photoshop.

good creativity, but i think you should improve your selection of color scheme. Because i have then in your work all are in a same color scheme. accept one. and all are in a tone color. seems you used a filer for this. Try to make something without using filer and colorful
    Keep it up dude!!!

I like the curtain one (2nd image).

Did you create the theatric image? Or you only placed text on that one?

Other than that, the images with the guy and girl have a style to it.

Is it just me or is this slowly turning into an ad for your services...

If you offer these services, which you clearly do as displayed in your signature, leave the portfolios for when you create and pay for a proper thread in the 'Warrior for Hires' section.

As for using the tool I'd say you got it, or at least enough that you will be able to Google anything you don't know yet and there's always something you don't know yet.

As for artistic design I think it looks great. Remember simple is better when you can pull it off. No point spending 12 hours on a design if it's only going to pay 3 hours. And you don't want to get sucked into spending all your time on graphics if your goal is to market a product. You still need to give time to SEO and other activities.

If you're using Photoshop, try upping your DPI from the default 72dpi to around 120-150 dpi. The amount of aliasing on your graphics are .... horrible. Or at least import vector graphics as smart objects so you don't lose resolution as you resize your layered images.

not keen on your headers. the 'car battery reviews' one is particularly amateurish. same with the 'winter beekeeping' - the choice of typeface is wrong IMO.

however, liked some of the original posts. the people with paper on them is a good concept. in terms of rating your photoshop skills though, it's hard to judge without knowing what went into it. for example, everyone is saying your first picture 'estera' is really good.

for all i know, you could have just: rendered clouds, picked a decorative font, typed that text and given it an outer glow. 5 minutes work max. same goes for the 'no regrets' one, except this time, you've used a decorative brush to add the swirls.

i might be wrong. but like i said, without knowing what went into it, its hard to judge your photoshop skills.

    MagicAce,

I dont have enough posts to send PMs. So thought I'd just reply here.

Its fine. You don't have to explain yourself. I was just giving my honest opinion.
And remember, anything creative is subjective. Some people will like it, others won't.
