Where do people find images to use for a banner/header and content for there websites? Or do you just buy stock photos?

  I want to make the header and banner myself just need to source good photos in my niche, I was wondering if there were any good places with free photos or if people just go buy stock photos to use.

SXC.HU has royalty free stock photos, although some require permission from the author. You can also browse Flickr for royalty free/CC licensed images.

on photo.com? or photos.com..just try to search about that site..They have free photos there you can't be charge for anything if you use photos there but to tell you they only have limited photos there so it's difficult to find relevant photos there. Depending on your topic maybe.

As a side note; please do not steal images from their respective owners, make sure all the images you use in commercial activities are either made available freely or by way of payment for use commercially.

You can find free images to use anywhere online. one of the best places to get the is morgue file; is the best it has a bunch of good quality photos that you can use.

on google, click on images. select advanced images and choose "royalty free images" etc.

checkout, flickr creative commons.

deviant art (its a great place (and great art community) to see people's art works, some people offer images that you can use to manipulate, etc.)

sxc.hu (like deviant art, some images, require you to contact the owner to use, etc. but they are nice people so feel free to contact them, they don't bite =) )

Many warez sites also have links to millions of stock photos as well as torrents.

If you need free themes or templates,check out for magento themes dot jextn dot com you will find plenty of free themes and templates, which are available for free, your website can be done for 5 minutes using this templates,you can find images too, by editing some part of the theme..

  I use iStockPhoto a lot. I don't like having to pay for photos but you do get what you pay for and that is quality. The free sites tend to have lesser quality photos.

  If you'd like to include unique images, I suggest that you subscribe to stock photos. These are huge collections of different photos in different categories. If you just want free images, there are also a lot in Google.

Best place to go is Google image, but also make sure that the image isn't copyrighted - search for royalty free images or stock images.

  I recently found photoshop-stuff.org. They offer free stock photos and other resources, no registration needed. The images are HUGE and high quality, and there's lots of variety. I'll assume they're fine for commercial use since there's no notice anywhere saying otherwise.

You can also find some from freedigitalphotos.net , but only low quality images are for free on there.

basically it depends upon the requirement.
what and where do you want to use the image on the banner.
i mean to say sometimes we need only a part of image on the banner, in this case we can go for any image online, but if you need complete image on the banner then you must go for stock photos
