Trying to set up an opt-in/subscription box/link -- HELP!

Hi, fellas. I've just got this website set up and now there's something I want to put in it -- a box or link (on each page of my site) that allows interested visitors to click on and then leave their names and email addresses so I can send them a newletter. I believe you know what I mean; there are many websites that have this little box with two fields inside, one for entering your first name and the other your email address. You fill in the two fields, click 'submit' or something like that, and then you're led to some 'thank you' page or some 'thank you' email is then sent to you, and thereafter you receive emails from the website.

How do I set up such a thing, please? I know I need an autoresponder, but how about that box or link thing? Is there a tutorial somewhere for all this? I searched online and couldn't find anything. Joomla looked like it could help but I couldn't make head or tail of it. Help, please, anyone? Thanks!

Most autoresponder services have very easy copy/paste methods to help people. So, after you signup for an autoresponder take a look at their tutorials. Should be a snap for you.

What theme or interface or using for your website? As James said most interfaces are easy to install. Mail Chimp offers a free autoresponder for smaller list.

Most autoresponder services will offer a section in their back office where you can generate the code you are looking for. Then it would be a matter of copying and pasting that code in to your web site where ever you want the optin box to appear.

So, basically ... you'll want to select an autoresponder service first. THEN you will be able to get the code to add the subscription form to your site.

You may need to know a little bit of html code to know where to exactly place this code on your website. There are html editors like Dreamweaver that have a wysiwyg editor where you can place the code exactly where you want it on your website. The first thing however is to identify an Autoresponder service that you want to use to make this happen. Then you can move forward an attempt to place the code on the section of your website that you desire.

Look into MailChimp, iContact or GetResponse.
