Can you switch to a different theme on an existing website? If yes, and the new one is not good, can you switch back and all will be the same? Thanks.

If you are using Wordpress, then yes, it is quite simple to do.

If you are using an HTML site, it would be a little trickier and would have to change the CSS around.

Yes it is a Wordpress site. It contains a lot of content so I trust this will just reorient to the new Theme. How about the ranking - will that remain unaltered?

Switching themes sometimes deactivates some plugins and resets your preferences in some things like custom menus.

If you "put the old theme back", its the same as changing the first time, meaning any settings lost from the first switch will be re-lost on the switch back, unless you want to backup and restore the WP DB... but you're making WP DB backups before you upgrade/change themes, etc, right?

Anyway, you can save the hassle by installing a theme to WP (THEMES> INSTALL THEMES), then from the MANAGE THEMES area you can preview the recently installed themes without actually activating the theme so you can see if you like it before activating it.

Rankings are a reflection of the URL, not the theme. Changing themes will do nothing to your site's SERP rank or Page Rank.

If you are using Word Press, you can switch to available or uploaded themes, as you wish. There are some other CMS too which provides this option. But I would prefer WP
