Heres a link to the site as it looks online, I have re-designed some of the graphics. Untitled Document

The site is not working, meaning you can't order anything, and many of the pages are not completed. I do have some roll-over effects that are operational though....

  • Straight to the point! Looks good to me!
  • I would like to see a little content on the bottom of each of the three packages. A nibbit of what they are about. But that's just me. Color layout is appealing.
  • Nice layout, good use of colors.

Only dislike the black borders around the three examples at the bottom. You might also want to have more direction towards where you want people to go next. Like the arrows you see at squeeze-pages, but more subtle
  • Too many bright colors, too much contrast ... looks very unprofessional to me. You're trying to emphasize too many things at the same time ... so in the result everything looks the same.

When will people understand that contrast is relative within the website? When you make everything huge, nothing stands out ... when you make everything small, nothing stands out.

I disagree. The site is not too much contrast at all. the over-sized buttons and logo are nice and shiny, and "web 2.0-ish" (cliche way to describe i know) and those looks are in right now.

I also love how straight forward your site it with no fluff sales talk crap etc.

      thanks for sharing

  • hello Steve

  • Hi, I have seen your website it has Good CSS and Images. I think it will do better for you.

    • I think it looks pretty sharp. My only real critique is that I find the black text on blue pattern makes the text blend in. Perhaps a different colour would make it stand out better?
    • Goes to show you how peoples perceptions can be way different...

Look a that guys website in his signature area. Thats the first thing I did, just to see if this person had somekind of bias. And just as I expected, their site was all gray tones, black and white with just about no color at all other than icons ........

I guess if you think only gray toned black and white sites can be professional then his opinion can be considered correct .......
  • Very nice. I like it.

The one thing I might modify -- but it's certainly not a deal killer, so to speak -- is to pick one less color for the top 1/3. You have two oranges, green, two blues (counting the ribbon thiingie). If you just make one of the oranges more related to the other, that'd work.

I know I'll certainly keep you in mind for future work.

    • Thanks alot, I just changed the orange top, the problem is that they are both gradients and they were the same gradient colors for sure, but the top background stripe only showed the darker colors of the gradient, while the middle orange background had the full gradient spectrum of oranges I was using.

I agree and saw that the oranges were off but had forgot about trying to match them better...
  • I appreciate your hard work and it really looks professional. Thanks for sharing your great art of work.
  • wow I love the business you're into

    good job!
  • do you think making it little professional will be ok. i don't find anything wrong with that; hum!
  • well, it is a professional work, 9/10 great work.
only nubmer buttons going transparent when you roll over... is something i dont like, but its only my opinion. keep it going.

When you are online i would like to ask you about few things (web design etc.)

  • nice usage of colors.

really like the layout and style.
  • Easy on the eyes, straight to the point. Looks great to me. I said "ooo" when I first saw it...I think that's good
  • I like. It's direct. No BS. No time wasted.

    • I think it looks great. Eye catching w/ good color choices. However, the picture on the bottom right (mega money by JJ) I'm not sure what that is. I have never seen any type of product in that style case. Looks a little odd to me. Maybe you can change it with a software case look. Just my opinion.
  • Good Stuff out there Fantastic very professional I can feel the passion and harmony on it.

    • Thanks, I definately as designing have been believing to make the site be a blessing to anyone who looks at it, meaning that its something that is easy to navigate, look at, peaceful, and all around just a great site.

Harmony is a good word to use, because I have tried to make it that way and incorporate and balance all the elements together without going overboard.

  • I would love to see this when it's operational. This is exactly the service I have been looking for.
  • It seems wonderful. I like the colour style.
  • I think it looks really nice, although I do find the choice of colors "interesting" and maybe just a touch too "busy" looking. :-)

I'd be curious to see you split test with a slightly less "bold" site and see how it affects sales once you're up and running.

    Cheers,

    Steve

P.S. Looking at it again now, I find that my eyes really don't know where to go as your Logo and nav section is about the same size as the blue and orange sections below it - and that logo really takes up a lot of space there.
  • I think it's a good choice of colors that work well together. I'm not so sure about the white logo background. It seems a little out of place, like it's unfinished compared to the rest of the color.

I would watch your load speed also, you are currently around 46 requests which are all images but one (thats a lot). A lot of them can be optimized and also create a couple sprites so you are not loading so much. It will greatly improve page load speed, which should fly being static, but it doesn't because of the requests..

Your also loading quite a few images for the top navigation, it also is a waste.
I see you have a slight emboss on the white text, but you could save a lot by just going white text on one background and on hover change the text to what ever instead of loading an entire new image.

Or if you must have it, sprite the whole navbar. 1 image instead of 14 or whatever is there.
I see no reason for the footer text to be images, I would get rid of those all together and use text.

By the time you add opt-in scripts and whatever other trick scripts you will be loading a lot more.

You could get those requests down to 6 or 7 maybe even less, I didn't look that close.

Just my thoughts, I do think it looks nice...

    • Thanks for the input. I will slowly be changing things over time. This website was specifically designed to be tables and rollover images on purpose as an experiment. Thats why its like it is, it looks good, but definately will load faster as I change things.

As for optimizing images, Im not to keen on lowering image quality, it always effects the look of the site. But I definately can do other things to speed it up. This site has lots of gradients, which is not good for gifs, but I do believe I can do some slivers of repeat images. I may just recode it all to divs and css vs. tables eventually, as I said it was a experiment, one that I will use for my services still though.

I agree about sprites, I have not really done that before, although I have read quite a few things about them. I know it can't be too hard, if you have any good tutorials on how to do that, let me know if you can....?

The logo header is plain and simple, kinda wanted it that way, I basically wanted the site to look organized and easily navigatable and straight to the point, not much if any sales copy.
  • I guess I'll be in the minority and say I don't like the color scheme.

There are too many colors competing for dominance and there is something in the combination itself that is off.
    • [1] reply
    • Yeah I agree, I'll also be the minority. My perception there are too many dominance color.
  • Nice look create. I think This very simple and like it. In this look use nice color and also formate is so wonderful. I like your work and Now, I am big fan of you... So, I like your new design.
  • Looks clean! I personally don't like it when sites are so bogged down with info. Yours is clean and to the point. I like it.

    • Graphics on your site is one of the factor to attract and gain traffic. this site is one of most 'liked'.
  • I like how clean it is, but it does have that squeeze page feel due to the graphic wrap on the boxes. What caused the redesign? Try throwing a light background on it just to balance of the look. Great work though.

  • Looks nice, but took quite a bit of time to load here in Scotland
  • Not a very great website design
  • Looks sharp, clean and professional..I like it!

In my opinion, the only thing I would change is the black border around the bottom box and going through the green header where it says 'examples of quality you can expect'. If you want a border there I would change it to the same colour as the background as that has a dark tone. Also I would widen the middle box a little so the border is the same width all the way round each box.

As you can see these are minor adjustments and only my opinion...overall I really like the design.

    Nice Work!

    • I'm not a fan of the orange but I like the rest.
  • Its look nice to me
  • Sorry Steve,

I felt that was unfair. I actually like many elements of your page! Very crisp, clean. May be one more color than needs to be there (just my opinion of course) but overall, I like the crisp elements (ie graphics) you got going on there.

    Cheers

    • I am suprised this thread popped back up, I guess some new guys, needed to make some posts?

Thanks, yes it's plain and simple, just the way its intended to be........
  • Sorry Steve, I'm usually more constructive than just offering an opinion.

Having a second look and there are some very nice things about your page. My only suggestion (once again, subjective) would be to maybe change the green nav bar to a shade of blue/grey but that's minor and just an opinion.

    Otherwise, good job!

    • No problemo, I like all the input, but as you know, many people have varying likes and dislikes. So, I completely understand. The color scheme is edgy, meaning its vibrant and not the norm, but the colors do compliment each other. Some can't handle the contrast I have noticed but many have said its a nice color scheme.

I still have not put the site into divs, which will make it load much faster, I am sure, because I will replace lots of the color images with just color codes. Just not on my list of most important things to do right now.....

      Again thanks for the input.........
  • I like it, great design, very inviting and visually pleasing.
  • Pretty good work
  • Design looks good. I like your icons, and the colours go really well together!

A good page for your product I would imagine!
  • Great, neat and accessible website!.. Thumbs Up!
  • I think you have made a good effort...I liked it

    • The design is perfect and clean.
You can make more good by adding web2.0 colors
  • The site seems VERY sluggish, I would make CSS Sprites where possible, and looking at PageSpeed, you could save tons of size compressing the images (up to 50%)

You also don't specify the dimensions for any of the images, when the browser tries to render the page, it doesn't know how big the images really are to save space for them, and you get sort of a flicker as the images fill out.

61.6% of the JavaScript loaded by this page had not been invoked by the time the onload handler completed.

Move the JS to the bottom of the page, give the browser time to render before it has to parse out what js it needs to run.

    Design looks nice though
  • Looks good but as the poster above mentioned, it loaded very slowly. On my fast Internet connection it only took about 5 seconds however most sites will appear after only a couple of seconds for me. May want to look into that...
  • Looks Very good
  • It looks awesome! Very clean, slick, professional, and straight to the point! I dislike the colors though. I don't think that the blue, orange, and green go well together. If I were you, I would either stick to blue/orange or blue/green and vary the colors a bit. I would change the orange banner to the sides of the "eCover Design Studio" logo to a light blue and the center orange part to a grey, blue, or green. I would just play around with the colors a bit! Overall, great job!
