What is the best Wordpress theme that can be easily customized and modified?

I was wondering what is the best Wordpress theme that can be easily customized and modified to look the way I want? I want to use it for a membership site where I'll be using the DAP plugin.

    Hey Steve - Could you be a little more specific here? Just HOW do you want this website of yours to look?

    I've found that most themes can be customized fairly extensively with just some easy changes in the css file - and some themes, including the new default theme "2010", make it easy to change backgrounds, headers etc...from within the admin control panel.

    So far I've used and like the themes offered by WooThemes and Elegant Themes, but lately I've been relying on Theme Forest for my own site template needs.

    you need to spesific what is your requirement / needs,
    what kind of your website type? review / blog / ecommerce / etc ..

    and do you search for free or premium theme?

    Hi Steve,

    I recommend the Genesys framework from studiopress.com, its very SEO friendly (important) and customizable.

    You will probably hear alot about a framework called Authority Pro, I did not like it because of its unstable and often malfunctioning widgets, but this is my personal experience with it of course

      Hey guys,

      I'm using OptimizePress for my product launch pages and squeeze pages, etc. but I think I would like something a little bit similar to Jeff Walkers blog here JeffWalker.com for my membership site. He is using Thesis.

      I can follow directions but I'm really not a techie and need something that can easily be modified without spending hours screwing around with complex b.s.
