I want a WP theme that I can use for my websites, I'm just new to WP and I have no clue about css or php, I know some basic html and that's it.

Is there any themes that you can recommend? I did some searching on WF, and found some users recommending Headway and Catalyst Theme, I don't need css or php skills to use them right? I'm going to be using these themes for auto-blogging, well lets say "semi" (self hosted WP, re-writing the articles, seo, wait for 3-4weeks atleast before monitizing it). As my first website, would you recommend using either one of the themes?

Thank you all!

PS: I hope this year will bring you wonderful surprises and happiness! Happy New year!

It seems to me you need themes that's right out of the box looks "good". If my understanding below are some of the themes that might suit your need (not affiliate links):
Headway is fantastic theme if you need to customize your Wordpress site. It's visual editor is top notch. It really helps me a lot to customize a number of my sites. But, to do "deep" customization you would still need to know CSS a bit. Hope that helps. Wish you all the joy and happiness in 2011

Thanks for the suggestions! Silly question, on the elegantthemes, can you change the header? and the theme colours in the WP panel?

My suggestion would be the default 2010 theme.

Do not discount it because it is the "default".

It is very flexible and you can customize the heck out of it. Header, background, menu, sidebar and on and on.

One of the main issues with someone having a problem with their WordPress blog is that something all of a sudden stopped working..right after I added _____. You fill in the blank.

More times than not this 'problem' is a conflict with what-ever was just added and the theme they are using. Which by the way is rarely the default theme.

As far as I know, most all plugins (addons) are built around the core of WordPress and this includes the default theme. So rarely will you encounter a problem with a "WordPress approved" plugin and the default theme.

So my suggestion is to go with what works and tweak it to your personal tastes and besides, you can always go spend your money with those other themes later if you still find the need.

Ex: Here is just one of my sites that is on the 2010 theme with just a bit of easy-peasy customization

I'm still working out some of the details but you can get a pretty good idea of some of what you can do.

      Hope this helps.

Either way, have a great New Year

There is no silly question when it comes to learning something When you say header, are you referring to logo? If you are: yes you can. Every themes from elegantthems comes with PSD files. So you could customize all the graphic elements used on the theme.

To manipulate PSD files you could use either Photoshop (commercial) or Gimp (open source: GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program).

If you only want to change the logo, I am very sure you could do it even tough you have never used Photoshop/Gimp before.

As for the second question, elegantthemes come with what they call as epanel. Using this panel you could change the default color of some of their themes. It's a very handy and easy to use tool. Hope that helps

I have to agree with Steve, the Default Wordpress 2010 theme has the option of installing your own header not many themes do this. It is very easily, you just upload it and bang your header is installed. All you have to do is to get the right size, which you can do yourself on the resize site. For beginners it is easier to go with a basic theme, until you get more used to working with WP, but by far it is the easiest, most flexible platform to use. I find the more simple a site the more a viewer enjoys the experience and the more chance for you to make some money.
    cheers
