It really depends on your website (there might be some folders outside Public_html, that you may need), so in my opinion the best thing to connect to your web server's FTP, and copy everything (all the folders) - shouldn't be a lot anyway. You might also want to 'backup' your wordpress database, within wordpress itself so that you have a second copy just in case.

With regards to the hosting move, are you only moving the hosting? or the domain as well? Moving the hosting is just a matter of putting these backed up folders in the new hosting space, and maybe configuring some quick things. Moving the domain might involve DNS, IPS tags etc.

Correct. If you move the nameservers, make sure you create all the records beforehand. But you should try and move the whole domain if you don't like your current provider - the domain will still be registered with them...

the domains i have register with go daddy all of them.

the new hosting is a reseller hosting i have got, at the moment then is it just the public html i need to copy then cus they are all wordpress blogs

I didn't watch the videos (because for me it's just too much time...) but in the posts above that there is a lot of BS!

Backing up a WP site has two [2] components:

1. the files and directories from the directory where your WP is installed; if it's in the root (like example.com) then yes, you need the files and folders from public_html.
NOTHING outside of it!!!
if your blog is in a subfolder, like example.com/blog <-- you need to download/backup everything from that (blog) folder)

2. The MySQL database where all your content is: posts, Pages, comments, settings etc.

The steps:
- save the files & folders
- export the database

and at the new location:
- upload the files & folders
- import the database

As stated, since you are using Wordpress for your sites, you need to move the DATABASES as well as the files to the new host. That is, if you expect your sites to appear as they do now. As usual, the Wordpresss Codex is the greatest resource in this instance: Moving WordPress « WordPress Codex

The problem is this.

These blogs that i want to move to a different hosting is alread live and will be using the same domain names. ive had the domain names pushed to me but and the person who i brought the sites from has already got them on his hosting.

he has given me the 2 files but how would i do this??

1. Domain.
If the domains were pushed to you (your account at the registrar), you should change the DNS info to point them to your hosting. That's the usual procedure - unless you have a different agreement with the seller.

2. WordPress move.
What are those "2 files" you got? Are they some kind of compressed (zip) files?
What you need from him (minimum):
- the database file
- the theme with all the images
- plugins used
- any media uploads
(the latter 3 can be given to you in the wp-content directory)

Ideally, you should get all the WP files, too... although you can always upload the WordPress files from a fresh download.

Moving WordPress sites is not so easy, get something like BackupBuddy..

A lot of hosts are willing to handle the move for you, but if not, you can just log into cpanel, do a full backup, then go to your new site with cpanel and upload the backup.
