What are the Disadvantages of Static HTML Pages for Mini Sites?

For small mini sites, like 3 to 5 pages, where you don't wish interaction with visitors, the only disadvantage that I can think of is no automatic pinging if you decide to add a new page or update a page.

Can you list any others?

    Less options for free templates/design.

Only reason I use WP for small sites.

Aaron, that's a good one. I usually do my own css and graphics so hadn't thought about that being an issue.

I'd say that most of the advantages would be with a css html site in that situation.

Much faster loading time, much more secure. You can easily set up your own rss feed if you want one. (See foothillsweb.ca for a simple rss feed that you can use as a template if you want one.)

For all the noise you hear about WP, if you look at the top ten in most search results, not many of those are blogs.

You can find mostly these types of websites that are mostly developed these days and they are static sites as well as dynamic sites because there is various importance of each of these techniques. Which one you are going to opt should be as per your requirements for your website and generally if you want a website that is going to generate revenue with PPC or affiliate programs then you should go with a static site but in case you wish to create a website that will be more appealing to audience with more interactivity then a dynamic site is going to be the best.

Huh? I think you meant to say something here, but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it was...

I enjoyed that, and a couple of your other posts along the same lines. But maybe he/she/it didn't mean to say anything, just display the sig links.

A lot of us might have started out from a sleazy background (myself included) but we are all learning and more communication is always a good thing.

Personally I nearly always appreciate negative communication. If I have egg on my face, I do want to know so I can get it off.

Steve, maybe I'll send you a few urls so I can get some totally honest feedback about the sites

best wishes to both of you

I personally prefer static HTML pages for minisites. I can not see any disadvantage (provided that you know a little about web design).

However, for those new to website creation, WP offers a big advantage. Just choose a theme you like, set a couple of plugins, write your content as if you were using a word processor and this is it. This can sound fantastic for someone that does not know a thing about web design.

the disadvantage is you have to explain in detail and specification about the products that you sell to to your customer in one page only, or single minisite.

If you want a HTML minisite, you are pretty well set. WordPress is good if you want to update it often or don't want to struggle with HTML coding. It does make the work easy.
