Hi Gang,

Does anyone know a good site for SUPER high quality looking graphics with no back grounds? Like .PNG?

There used to be one called photoobjects dot net...but they vanished!

Thanks!

I would venture to say that is not clipart, it was most likely real images, that were taken into photoshop and had the backgrounds taken out, and then added to the psd template and added drop shadows. Thats how I work, and thats how most designers would do it.

The house/shack may have been clipart? But either way, doing the way I mentioned above is most common. And as others have said and mentioned there are many places to get this type of stuff, just type into google and you'll find more than you need.

If you are not good at photoshop then you can find someone to hire to cut out the backgrounds for you possibly for cheap?

As somacorellc said, istockphoto.com is probably the best, among others, although it will cost you a few dollars to create a mash up of vector images as to your example. Like anything the talent for such creativity comes through practice, but you can do it yourself. Making the right selections without wasting your money is the hard part.

Try selecting a few images from the stock photo sites, then do a ruff pencil out of them to give you the sense of balance and appropriateness for use. You can usually download proofs as well, in which case, you can print out a color version and stencil them for your theme. This will not only give you an idea if it all comes together in layers, but also if the colors work well together too.

    I like istockphoto.com

Even though you have to pay they have just about everything. Just make sure you pick things you think you'll use again to get your moneys worth.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks again for the input! I personally have never been too thrilled with istock or main stream clip art companies. Unless I've missed something, seems like everyday graphics and art. Nothing very 'stand outish' that I've seen?

@Steve: I too use similar methods you speak of. However, these are not 'real' photos used in my example. If you were able to zoom in, you could see they are definitely designed. Have a cartoonish look, but close to looking real. I like this kind of graphic and hard to find?

Chip, I have the exact minisite in my swipe file, so I have a large view of it the mower looks to be a real image, bag of money could be a real image, just stylized, the tree is real, the house could be a real house just posterized and the sign on the bottom may be clip art, grass could be clip art, or taken from a photo.... point being it all could be real images just stylized?

As you may know, if your a designer too, all this type of stuff can be done inside of photoshop, with just a few filters to make it look cartoony, I do it all the time.....

Not trying to argue at all, I like that look also at times when needed so I take regular images and cartoonize them myself....

@ Steve: Huh, thats good info. I appreciate it! Think I found the answer to my mystery! I usually use real images or just cartoon style. This seems to be in between! Interesting method! I like it!

Needless to say I will be trying it out!

A quick and rough example of what can be done...

the one on the left is the original image, the one on the right looks like it could be a vector icon.....

All done in photoshop within about 10 minutes... I could make it look better, but it was just for an example.

You would go to filters - poster edges and play with the settings, then maybe go to image - adjustments and set the contrast a little higher and the brighteness could be played with, then take it back into poster edges/posterize, depending on what version of photoshop you use, I'm using photoshop CS3 extended version.

@ Steve~ Cool stuff! I was just doing some of this on my laptop while watching the Seahawks smash the world champs! (sorry had to brag a lil)

You are definitely correct! That is what was done in that example previously. Just did some stuff with it, and looks pretty sharp!

I am sending you a friend request! Would love to help each other on stuff down the line if thats cool?

many image sites now don't use .png files for search engine reasons... Images rank better if in jpeg format... If I was you i would download them in jpeg format and then just convert them into .png files with adobe or a similar programme.
