Hi,

I am designing a website that wants a blog/news feed integrated into the homepage. Ideally people would be able to log in to a module (like Wordpress) and post news updates. I'm wondering what is the best way to go about building a website that accommodates a blog/news feed.

Should I use Wordpress to build the whole site? Or is that too limiting? Should I build the site in PHP and the integrate a wordpress blog onto the homepage? If so, can someone direct me to a tutorial that explains how to do this?

In general, how difficult is this to accomplish?

Thanks!

There are two ways you can accomplish this.

    1. You can add a wordpress blog to the current HTML site and outfit it to look similar to the HTML site. I've done this for a number of clients. It provides the necessary blog that helps boost SEO without having a complete redesign. However, I've found that once clients start USING WP, they like the idea of changing things on the site on their own and thus . . .

    2. Design the entire site in WP. You can start with a free theme and modify it to meet your client's needs or you can purchase a premium theme that is closer to the design your looking for and tweak it.

As an experienced website designer, learning WP does require a learning curve, but it is doable. Always helps to have a project to make it happen faster. Give YouTube a try for basic training. There are many short videos to give the step by step and it's free. If you find one you relate to, they may also have more indepth training available.

My biggest suggestion is take the time to play with WP. It's a powerful tool for website design. The more you learn it, the more you'll love it

      Hi,

You can very easily achieve this in wordpress itself. You can have static pages in wordpress. Look at the settings section in admin panel. Where you can set your home page. Ofcourse you can cutomize the way you want using templates.
