The majority of people start with a wordpress blog, it's the most popular CMS (Content Management System) that allows you to add content while rarely needing to touch html/php code. Ideally you have your own $10/yr domain and $8/mo hosting.

One can start with free services like Wordpress.com or (Googles) blogger.com and setup a blog for free than can be used for marketing purposes. Blogger allows you to assign your own custom domain name: myPlace.com, instead of their provided subdomain: myPlace.blogspot.com at no charge, other than your $10/yr registration cost.

Custom themes allow a wordpress site to look more like a magazine or store, instead of a blog.

Try with wordpress which is a easy platform to make some quick website without knowing any tech stuff. If you want to go further then I would recommend using EZ Generator which is a great software for making high quality professional website. I myself a complete non-techie uses both

I agree with the members here who recommend wordpress, but you should go for a self-hosted wordpress site rather than one on wordpress.com so that you have full control over your site.

Hi man, wordpress requires some technical knowledge, a domain name and web hosting, so if you are very new to web publishing, then leave it there for the next level.

For now start off with blogger.com. It's free and it is very easy. You can call it a trial pack in IM and the world of web publishing. You can create posts and pages, add content and learn how things work; you can also self learn some HTML while working on it.

Later when you are ready to take things seriously, then go for wordpress.org. I know so many people have recommended WP and I too am a strong supporter, but for a newbie in the IM, all the options will confuse you a lot; WP has like hundreds of options that is ideal for a "easy" level beginner, but not for the "novice"

To learn, just head over to YouTube.com and search for the topic you want to learn, you will find many related videos.

Before anything else, watch this video and feel free to ask questions in this forum.

Welcome to the forum, Cailan. No technical knowledge is needed to create a website if you're using Wordpress or Blogger. You could also build a static html site using a html website editor that is almost as easy to use as Microsoft Word. It all really depends on what type of website you're planning on building.

One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of the themes on wordpress you can use are actually coded by wordpress enthusiasts.

So they aren't always the most stable - You should stick with the TwentyTen theme or a child theme of it.

I've installed a plugin that said it was compatible and it crashed my entire site...
That reminds me.. the first plugin you download should be something that backs up your wordpress site.

as everyone else has said WordPress is your friend when first starting! It comes loaded with different plugins, themes, and is just plain and simple to use!

Themes: Want A nice design? Just look around on the net for a premium WordPress theme. Still not enough? Find a base theme and hire someone to customize and for $100 you could have a site that looks amazing!

Plugins: Plugins are great, and they exist for pretty much anything you can think of. If you want your website to auto post to twitter, facebook, or any other social bookmark you can. If you want an easy way to SEO your website page by page you can! If you want to monitor visitors you can! If you want special banner placements you can!


Put plain and simple, WordPress is a great choice for beginners because it allows you to make a very professional looking site for little to no money!

Go to w3schools to learn html and css its free and makes learning how to make a website a little easier. Use dreamweaver to make your website it is a great tool. You don't need to know any code at first, but with dreamweaver you will slowly learn the ins and outs of html. You should get photoshop to create headers and backgrounds for your websites.

If your planning on selling products, honestly: there is money in every effort - its just what you put into it what counts.

Meaning what keywords.

Meaning what content.

Meaning what good ideas ( like adding games to your blogs, or aiming your adverts at a cross-market like "health" ads aimed at "gamers" )

Meaning how many people you can get to your money makers, and how many of them you can make money off.

To be honest - whatever the platform, its more about the other factors.

Wordpress has all the capability's of Widget and Custom Scripts to tune everything to perform better, and If you master it - Nice Presentation, Up-to-date News and Product Reviews, Free Give-Aways, Free to enter competitions and so on - along with good affiliate ads and even an commission based online store or drop shipping operated online store - you have Mastered the Art of Blogging.

The key with blogging is to keep providing quality content. Keep the presentation in immaculate condition and keep it fun and cheerful.


Websites are just as good though - but with websites it is all about Function.

The websites which really excel are usually the Websites with A LOT of quality information on them. Think of a Cheats Website for a Games Console as an example. Or a Wikipedia or a forum.

Man, when I got started in the olden days we had to learn html and all that crazy stuff. I wouldn't go the route unless you have a special reason to do so. Wordpress is the way to go now days, there is a ton of free training on youtube to help you and lots of free plugins all over the net to help you get started. Take it from a fella from the olden days go Wordpress young man there's gold in them dar hills.

Welcome to the forum. I suggest that you set up a Wordpress Blog with Original Content and then you can monetize it with google adsense and affiliate products. Google loves Blogs if it provides good information. Blog for Internet Cash is the way to go. Good SEO (SEARH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION) is Critical also.

Maybe if you are not a fan of lots of techie stuff you can try building up a site/blog via weebly. You can still opt to get your own domain and hosting with them if you want to. Just use wordpress when you are ready.

C'mon guys, let's be realistic here. Of course WP is the way to go but you know the truth. Everyone using WP will eventually need to call on a php dude to tweak a few things here and there. So, I'd suggest going to a Meetup.com group in your local area and finding someone who does WordPress programming and offer to PAY them to make little programming changes here and there when you need them. Do ANYTHING online and eventually you will find yourself in need of calling somoen....ANYONE...who can help. Much better to be able to call on someone later who is already familiar with your website today.

I vote for wordpress, provides huge alternatives of free and premium plugins, themes, and support forums. Free tutorials can be found everywhere, YouTube, wordpress.tv, or in this free wordpress video tutorial blog.

try playing around with wordpress, get a theme and tweak it to your need. if you do it daily, you'd be a designer in no time.. also try playing around with photoshop so you can do good graphics.

Word-press is the best to start off with.....

Wordpress or Blogger would be my suggestion.

You really don't need to know much about html to enter the scene.
This is all done for you in WP and Blogger, and templates are provided to get you started and up and running.

One wee word of advice is to start with solid keyword research, and the rest can be done afterwards. If you start with building a site without finding a niche that will convert, then you'll be looking more at a hobby than an income.

But i still recommend you learning some basic html and css coding. It isnt that hard.

Imagine a webpage as a bunch of many objects. With CSS you can change the variables (positions, colors, diameters, behaviour) of the these and create almost everything to your mind.

It really depends what you intend to do. Do you want to use websites as a tool for selling products? Or do you want to learn design?
If you are keen on developing your own website designs and creating them just how you like them, then you can get started on learning to code. If you are not requiring advanced functionality atm, then it really isn't too complex. If all you are doing is displaying information, than HTML and CSS is what you need, which does not include any real programming skills, but more around design skills.

W3 schools is a wonderful website for teaching the basics, but pros still go back from time to time to check on specific things. It is basically a repository of useful information.

If you want to focus a lot more on the actual content of the websites then beginning with something like the WordPress software from wordpress.org will save you a stack of hassle and you can learn little CSS tricks along the way.

Heck yes man! First off, You are awesome for starting this online business or showing interest in it. Let me set something straight first for ya. Its not easy. But don't let that get you down. I have been on the internet for about 3 years now and am making a healthy living. Sure, I am always wanting more but it all started slow. there are so many "guru's" out there that say its easy but its not. And yes, I think I might have the answer for ya. I have created a "million dollar website e-course" that will teach you what you need to do right off the bat to make a killer, targeted, website that will generate money for you. Its funny actually because back when I started I started just like you. I remember all the hard times of getting things rolling. 1) Use Wordpress. Wordpress is a content management system made EASY like SUPER EASY. It is very customizable and you can develop very professional looking websites through Wordpress.

2) How about outsourcing? This is how I usually go about doing it. You can visit freelancing sites and find a freelancer who fits your needs for your price and pay him and he'll do it for you! Here are the basic sites to hire freelancers from that most people use: 1) Upwork.com 2) Fiverr.com 3) Elance.com

My personal recommendation is outsourcing because there is so much to learn and why learn about how to code unless if you really want to and are passionate about it?

Hi, its really easy to create a website. Yes, its important too to learn all such languages for creating a website. But, other options are also available like you may use a designing software like template-toaster, webo etc.. But, you must have the knowledge of HTML , Php, JavaScripts although such tool doesn't require any coding knowledge, using such tools you just need to design a theme using its drag n' drop options etc., and export that to the selected CMS.

I am 24 years old now, and I begun my studying building websites way back 12 years ago. But I never knew that time that I can make money from doing so.


So I begun creating sites from scratch, not actual sites, but mini blogs telling about myself (an autobiography). But the disadvantage for me is I need to pay $1 dollar per hour to use a computer since my family don't own any and the speed of the internet was 512kb or less... And with no teachers to asks.

To cut it short, I started to learn by copy and pasting codes and replacing them.

1. Copy and paste.
2. Replace them (experiment)
3. repeat 1.


That was when I was 12, I spend 1 hour every month to create blogs, uploading my picture and even used a free web hosting services that provides free space to upload the html that I copied and pasted. For 2 years, I learned how to do the following, using div, marque (which I really love) and a little bit of CSS (mostly inline css).


I would also suggest doing the same 3-simple steps I have listed above, from that experience you will learn something more and add this to the list but erased #3


3. Use Youtube to search for what you need to do
4. Don't worry if you don't make right for the first time.
5. Repeat


But if you would love to have a proper training, I suggest team threehouse. They have various sets of tutorials for HTML. And I would suggest that you would take the following courses.

1. HTML
2. Javascript
3. PHP
4. SQL

That's all I can share and recommend for now and sorry for the boring story.
