How To Repurpose old domain correctly

I have a domain that is 15 months old. I put up an xsitepro site on it back then and just left it. It gets little traffic at the moment.
I now want to use the domain with a simple html sales page.
Do I just clear out all the old files and ftp the new page? Or is there something else I need to consider?

    delete the old files out of the domain directory, create an HTML page.
