Hi, I have recently purchased hosting, and I was able to get it set up and transfer my blog posts over quite easily. It took about a half an hour and that was with fiddling with settings. Anyways, I can't figure out how I want my front page to look. Does anyone have any ideas? what do you put on the front of your (or your clients) sites? OH my site is pcjargon.net

It is really important what do you expect from your website. For sure you want to put your selling reason in the front, otherwise your potential visitors will be lost in space.

Opt in form for a free report, how to guide, etc..
Just use some content and make a "5 tips you can do...." and put each tip in a separate email and have your autoresponder (if you have one) kick it off every week.

Now you are providing value and staying in touch with the for at least a month and a half..

Some ideas would be excerpts from some of your blog posts, a navigation to your other posts, an introduction to your blog, what its about.

You may add the featured posts of your blogs on the first page. You can also assign some part of it to show the testimonials. Google ads on some part of your front page wont look bad either, if you use Google adsense.

Opt-in form to start building your list, one solid article about your monetization, a few graphics. And sell something. Put that link in a sidebar widget in upper right, with opt-in form below. That is someplace to start.

I am also learning, but for me the first impression is very important. I personally feel that a site must be visually appealing, and clearly state what it is about. A good heading that stands out, related images, videos, graphics, etc....
also related (always related to your topic) affiliate products with nice images and widgets. Amazon have a few...
