The Mystery of the Wordpress Theme and the Disappearing Favicon

Hello Warriors, in the site where my signature banner takes you, I have been so pleased with the theme. Until today. Suddenly no favicon, just a white square where something should be. Perhaps I tweaked the theme too much? There was something in that space yesterday, whatever default favicon comes with the theme. Now it is just plain gone. I tried to fix it by making my own favicon. That didn't work either. Any hints at what I could try next?

    Generate a favicon using FavIcon from Pics -- how to create a favicon.ico for your website

    Upload the favicon to your public_html folder or where your wordpress files are...like wp-admin, wp-includes, etc.

    Add this line of code to your header.php file..

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico">

    Hard refresh by pressing Ctrl + F5.

    You should see the favicon now.

    I had a similar issue with WP and chased my tail for an hour before I dumped my cache and realized my favicon was there the entire time. Tools->Internet Options-> General->Delete in IE. If that doesn't work schwarzes gave good advice.

      Does it matter where I put that line of code? When people say to add code, I never know where. I added it where I thought it should go. I did Ctrl +F5. nothing.

      Does anybody see a favicon at my site?

        Put that line of code within your head section...anywhere above </head>

        I see the favicon...clear your cache or close your browser..and start again..

        If you are using Super Cache, then clear that as well.
