My brother had an idea for a social website, Facebook-ish is style where people can upload and share information with each other and publicly, including images and video. I have installed the BuddyPress plugin and have been experimenting with it.

Before I start promoting the site, I would like to know what experiences people here have had with BuddyPress and if there is another option you prefer for a community style site.

If you can suggest a good BuddyPress enabled theme, that would be great.

I will be adding various monetizing items to the site once it is active.
