What's More Fitting... Traditional Website or Blog?
Hey guys, thought I'd reach out to you for a little advice...
I have a friend that makes handmade floral arrangements and decorations for birthdays, weddings, funerals, etc. Her birthday is coming up, and I was thinking about buying her a domain name and hosting as a gift that "keeps on giving". Her business has been sputtering a bit, and I really think that a SEO optimized website could definitely help her in that regard, since about 40% of consumer purchases begin with a Google search (I read that somewhere recently).
With a service-based, localized business such as hers, I've analyzed the Keyword tags of her competitions websites, and I think I could do a good job of helping her get into the first page of Google for her service locally, after some time.
If I chose to move forward with this "gift", I'm a bit torn between whether it should be a blog or a static website. I was thinking that a blog may be easier for her to update... In addition, a blog would also allow me to chip in from time-to-time (she lives 3 hours away) and add content here and there to help make the site bigger, and to help in SEO efforts, since she's not very computer-savvy yet, but knows how to type and upload pictures... You know, basic stuff.
I was thinking that I could just add some static "Page links" to the top of the Page one of the blog that would provide links to pictures of her work, a "Contact Us" page, etc., so that it could still have a bit of that static web page functionality.
So, in summary, my questions is:
What do you think about my rationale about using a blog vs. a traditional website for her business, and which do you think is the best option under the circumstances?
