thesis theme and banner graphic question?

I am very new to wordpress's Thesis theme. I have a website that has the 3 column layout with a sidebar on the left and right sides of the content panel. I have a jpg banner that I want to put on the right side (Sidebar 2) of my website and have it be able to be clicked on to send them to my sales page. How can I do this in Thesis? I guess, I don't know how to make it a clickable object as well as how to do it in thesis altogether. With "features, Teasers and a multimedia box" I don't know what to use to get this done.

Secondly, I assume to have my op-tin box on the right side (Sidebar 2) as well I would just use a "text" widget and paste in the code?

Anyone with good knowledge of Thesis, can you please explain this to me?

  • Just put the code in a widget text box, click save, and it will work fine. The same for your opt-in box... just use a widget text box and put your code in it and save it.

  • Thank you, but right now all I have is a jpg file for the banner. How do I convert that into "code" with it being clickable? I know its a very basic question, but usually I build things with xsitepro that does all that converting behind the scenes.

    • Hey Adam,

      Paste this in to the sidebar file (or where ever you want your banner to display) and change LINK_URL_HERE to the actual page you want to take them to
      and change path/to/image_name.jpg to the actual banner file.

  • Yes, sorry, I should have been more detailed with my response.

    Upload your banner to a location on your website. Usually somewhere like wp-content > themes > NAME OF THEME > images.

    Then use the code provided earlier and use the entire URL to the banner within the "src" tag.

    Alternatively, I suggest uploading the image to a directory called "images" which should reside in the root of the domain. This way, if you ever change themes, the banner is still in the same place no matter what.
  • Ok, can someone please look at this "test" site I have. Its my "practice" website that I am learning the Thesis Theme on. That way I don't mess up my money sites until I know what I'm doing. There are three things I'm trying to figure out. The website is omahamobileoffers dot com

    1) On the right side, under the opt-in form there are 36 pixels of white space in between the two sidebar widgets. How do I change that to either zero or maybe 5 pixels instead of so much?

    2) On the same side, sidebar 2, the first widget (opt-in form code) has about 22 pixels lower than on the left side, sidebar 1. How do I set them up so both sidebars start at the same level?

    3) For this I may have to PM you the code to fix this, but if you look at the opt-in box there is about 10 pixels of white space above the aweber code. I don't know enough about HTML code, but how do I change that so it meets up to the green and there is no blank white space?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • Adam, all 3 are relatively easy fixes, however, probably faster to just do myself. Would you be willing to give me temporary access and I get them done for you. I will then send you 2 files... The original (with my comments) and the new (with my comments) so you can see exactly what was done... if this helps any...
