Google and Transition to Wordpress

A question about Google rankings and a static-to-wordpress website transition.

If I would like to redesign a static website to a wordpress one, but I don't know the dates of the articles on the static site (and thewayback machine doesn't show it), can I just randomly assign the dates or will I get penalized by Google for that if the dates are inaccurate ?

Unless you want to use the date in the permalinks of the individual posts... it doesn't make any difference.

I don't intend to put the date in the permalink

I worry that Google will notice that the articles were recently created in the wordpress site(which would conflict with the fact they've already been indexed in previous years in the static site) or will it not matter since I intend to use 301 redirects, specifying the old .html article redirect to the new permalink and that will override any dating mismatch ?

If you will use 301 it REALLY doesn't matter. Really. Alltogether, I think this mysterious monster (G) that you think behaves like a person, wouldn't give a rat's a$$ what the dates of your posts are.
